PARTYNEXTDOOR’s Reference Tracks For Drake’s “Legend” & “Company” Leak

The rumor mill is sure to be fired up again after two new PARTYNEXTDOOR reference tracks for Drake’s “Legend” and “Company” surface online.

The official liner notes from If Youre Reading This Its Too Late credit PARTYNEXTDOOR as a writer and producer on “Legend,” however there’s no such record of him having any involvement in the making of “Company.” This will no doubt add fuel to the fire for those Drake doubters.

Last summer, Quentin Miller was accused of being a ghostwriter for Drake.

This latest news comes just a few days after PARTYNEXTDOOR’s reference track for Rihanna’s “Work,” which features Drake, surfaced online – although it’s no secret that PND co-wrote the song.

    1. This is fuckin ridiculous! These folks work close with Energy. Has any one imagined that they could just be voicing what Drake has already done on the instrumentsls..some kindda playing around to see how they sound and also for better refining…tired of all these haters

    2. Who, gives a fuck. If you wanna get on Drake for getting help…
      Eazy E,
      Lil Kim,
      Kanye West,
      And Diddy
Get all of their work the fuck out of here first.
If you like anyone one of these niggas I listed, you a hypocrite.

      1. You get the fuck outta here everybody already knew those people had writers. Nobody was claiming the ones you mentioned as the best. Learn your history young buck. Go talk to someone with knowledge, instead of listening to a bunch of teenagers who don’t know shit about hip hop

      2. None of those people you mentioned claimed to be the best rapper alive. Sorry dog Aubrey isn’t a producer like Diddy or Dre and he definitely isn’t a gangster like Eazy who never claimed to be the best. Ok maybe be he’s Lil Kim but regardless you cant claim to be the best and not write all your bars. You see I said BARS and not hooks right.

    3. All these children talking about its NORMAL to have Ghostwriters clearly don’t know anything about Hip Hop and were born in the 2000’s. As a MC you get no respect for not writing your own lyrics, thats HIP HOP. These Drake songs dont suprise me. He has some good songs because of that BUT he can never be in any Top MC list, or be called one of the Greatest. You gotta write your own lyrics, this is not RnB or Rock n Roill. Hip Hop as we know it is dying. Mass Advertising has these kids brainwashed.

      1. While I feel you, one of the first rap songs ever “rappers delight” was written by one person and yet multiple people rapped the versus. We also all know cube wrote NWA’s first album yet Eazy is still respected as a rapper. Biz Markie didn’t write his raps either. Honestly there are countless “legends” that didn’t write their raps. I say that to say this…it’s not a 2000s thing or a young kid thing, it’s always been apart of the culture. Period.

That being said, I don’t respect it of you didn’t pen it. No matter the legend status. People who actually write should be celebrated and not the “performers”.

      2. Dumbass Eazy E is not respected for rapping, he is respected for his hustle. You young kids need to study your history before making yourself look stupid

      3. Biz Markie had one song written for him by Kane. Rest was on his own. And nobody holds The Sugar Hill Gang in high esteem.

      4. The Top five rap artist Biggie, Pac, Nas Jay, Em did not have any ghostwriter and I am not talking about hook. Bars Bars Bars. It’s Hip Hop. If you don’t write your BARS you cannot be on the list sorry. Drake isn’t trying to be on Biz Markies level. He wants to be Jay.s I don’t know how old you are but any real hip hop fan knew Eazy didn’t write his rhymes and could never be in the pantheon with the dudes I mentioned earlier, no matter how revered he is which was mainly because he was a real gangsta. Aubrey is neither of these.

    4. Either you write Drake off as a Rapper and just start labeling him as an RnB singer that rhymes or Drake will get a lot of heat for not writing his own lyrics. He already ruined his legacy with these writers.

    5. This is what happens when u the number 1 rapper Singer artist in the country ! He gives credit where it is due ! Next story ! Plat plat ..

      1. I would probably change that to number 1 artist, but there’s Taylor Swift, Adele so thats also a NO. One person writes bars for you and tells you how your goin to rap said bars and that’s it, you can no longer be on the list with the greatest. Sorry dickrider.

      2. I would probably change that to number 1 artist, but there’s Taylor Swift, Adele so thats also a NO. One person writes bars for you and tells you how your goin to rap said bars and that’s it, you can no longer be on the list with the greatest. Sorry dickrider.

    6. lol hahaha ..ok first off when you collaborate on records of course you get writing credits…people are funny..lets take a look at other artist who do worse
      1)puff daddy – has a ghost writer
2)dr dre….come on almost all his stuff was written for him
3)easy e – ice cube wrote alot of his stuff
4)the game – 50cent created at least 5 records, wrote the hooks gave the songs structure

the list goes on and on, fact is drake write the majority of his shit, so hes had other collab and help brain storm ideas, it happens all the time…

      hypocrites

      1. mate the guys u mentioned (except game) are producers first and rap aint their main thing. so what are we talkin about here? they are known for producing and it was always clear they work with ghostwriters. but drake claims to be the nr1 rapper. how can he be if he got nothing to do with his own music? at least he would produce something but he aint do shit.

      2. Not hippcocritical. Producers like dre and puff using ghost writers is completely different from an artist using a ghost writer

      3. Not hippcocritical. Producers like dre and puff using ghost writers is completely different from an artist using a ghost writer

      4. Dre. Puff. Eaze E. none of them are rappers. Nor were they held to the standard that rappers are. thats a horrible false equivalent.

Game didnt actually have 50 write his verses. hooks were written. end of story.

you’re a Drake stan and an idiot.

      5. who’s the idiot, i came with facts, you worst insult was calling me a stan, are you butthurt? is this meek mills booty call? fact is FACT IS, when you record music and work with other people they get credits, even coming up with a concept, that doesnt make you not lyrical, its called collaborating, all of a sudden drake doesnt write his own verses? why? bc he had help with a few tracks that couldve simple been hooks…happens all the time, stop being so closed minded moron.

      6. who’s the idiot, i came with facts, you worst insult was calling me a stan, are you butthurt? is this meek mills booty call? fact is FACT IS, when you record music and work with other people they get credits, even coming up with a concept, that doesnt make you not lyrical, its called collaborating, all of a sudden drake doesnt write his own verses? why? bc he had help with a few tracks that couldve simple been hooks…happens all the time, stop being so closed minded moron.

    7. Okay they obviously were in the studio collaborating…, i mean you can tell by the verse PND either had a song and Drake just took the hook and maybe a few lines from his verse to make it his. He gave PND creds where its due JUST like he did QM.
HAve yall never heard of Artist being asked how they made the song and they say so and so usually someone they are close with sent them a hook and they feel it and write there verse. Bryson tiller wrote a song for Chris Breezy, i forgot the name but Tiller posted it on ig how he felt honored to do that. Artist send each other shit all the time and see what they can do with it. They give credits where its due this happens ALL the TIME

      1. Drake dickrider, you can call it collaborating, but no matter what word you use Drake can’t write a single word for a lyric. He is a product sold to blind people like you

      2. Chris Brown is not a rapper as much as he wants to be. He’s like Rhianna, Katy Perry and Celine Dion. Hip Hop is different and for the last time a hook and bars are different as far as trying to lay claim to artist like Biggie Nas Jay Em Pac.

    8. Usually smaller artist will send shit to someone bigger and they play off of it and make it theres and give them creds in which gets them there money. Ty dolla writes for countless artist, Drake has wrote for Wayne, alicia keys, jamie foxx, kanye. Many hooks from Songs that make the radio get sent to them. And while in the studio collaboration is key to making a quality song. Only other artist in the industry would understand, No wonder Cole, Kanye, Jay , ASAP , and many other artist still fw him cause meek has no intellect. DJ Dramas ex wife even said meek wanted QM to collab with him

      1. Meek Mill has nothing to do with Aubrey not writing a word and having to use reference tracks. You Drake dickriders will buy anything white people sell you or tell you to believe

      2. That’s all well and good but if you don’t write your own bars you can never be on the list with the greats. Hip Hop and RnB have always different in hip hop artist write the words they are telling everyone is theirs. Drake isn’t Katy Perry or Justin Bieber. It doesn’t matter how many people 6fraud has wrote for if he can’t even write his own shit. Actually he can write his own shit but other niggas words are better so he buys them or sometimes doesn’t “OVO sweatshop”. Let me be honest here Drakes has hit songs that are good but he can never be on the greatest list that’s all.

      3. Let me be honest here Drakes has hit songs that are good but he can never be on the greatest list that’s all.

    9. Hey DX can you get rid of this over-raction period-having OVO_Kid? He makes the same comment over and over again under a different name and he thinks we dont realize it. Stop spamming the comment section and dont realize we see you upvoting your comments through proxies, lol. What a loser

    10. I’m not sure what DX is aiming for here? Just informing us that artists around Drake have reference tracks? That they recorded a song with the same hook as another song? I guess the only reason I ask is because this doesn’t really confirm or deny anything for me except that Drake collars with other artists.

I mean, we all know him The Weeknd collages on “The Ride” and like 3 or 4 other songs off “Take Care”. I’m sure the process was very similar. Even Jay Z (Hova da Gawd) has done this… A LOT! Remember his MASSIVE hit “I Just Wanna Love U”? He snatched the hook from Omillio Sparks! Then Jay put his own lyrics over the rest of the verse. But for some reason no ones calling him a thief or fake or non lyricist. Matter of fact, I don’t remember seeing an article on that on here. And lastly, who cares? Lol!

People who know hip-hop, rap, music in general should know the history before they speak. That doesn’t mean they won’t speak but at the same time, they don’t know. So back to my OG question. What’s the point of this article? Drakes a successful artist who people get a lot from. Why try to cut the man down during one of his most successful streaks. I praise him for having the ear and talent to pull all these people together so that way he’s not only accomplished and successful, but that others are getting paid as well. And with that, I pass…

      1. you are comparing a chorus.. to an entire reference track, including VERSES. the most important part of hiphop.. your lyrics, your bars.. the verses you create off of skill.

      2. Yeah dumbass Jay-Z has been biting lyrics his whole career. Funny how ignorant Drake dickriders are

      3. Yeah dumbass Jay-Z has been biting lyrics his whole career. Funny how ignorant Drake dickriders are

      4. apples to oranges my guy…. drake is taking other people’s concepts, hooks, verse, etc and using it. Also… he took bars frompnd and put them in some of his other sons on Views and didn’t give pnd credit. He he was upfront and honest like Diddy, Kanye or Dre, it would be different. But he is out here saying he’s better than other rappers and he wants to be in the same conversation as real lyricists and Jay-Z is his competion yada yada yada blah blah blah

    11. Drake is a pop star like Justin Timberlake or Justin Bieber so ppl writing songs and verses for him is nothing as long as the money come. He doing his job. For me I can’t put him in my lyrical top ten. But he top ten a entertainer. Up there with Diddy and others that put on a good show or party. Him his team of ghost writers make good pop rap. That’s fine just say he one of the all time greats hip hop rappers. Like a big pac nas or Jay. He more of a Nelly.

    12. Aubrey is so stupid he couldn’t even write the lame lyrics for his verse on Work. The Drake Hive is about to go ballistic

    13. Why does this matter, does anyone notice when these reference tracks come out that they suck?! When drake does his version it makes us listen to it closer than we would’ve otherwise. Drake takes these songs from pnd and they switch from something that would’ve faded into obscurity to something that is a hit. Drake has the worlds attention he can take this sleeper songs no one would pay attention to and make them something, the writers get paid, his legend continues. Its not hurting nobody we get more good music, artists been doing it for years. Don’t nobody give a fuck about battle rappers, freestyles, or lyricists, we live in a capitalist society. Drake makes the most money, and thus wins the most. Rest of you herbs sit down and stfu.

      1. Actually a reference track is the practice track. Unmastered, no mix, no effects. Trust, if Pnd wanted to this a hit song he could’ve easily done it. “Recognize was incredible, and what did Pnd sound like on that? Drake is not the omnipotent talent everyone thinks he is, but still talented. Learn the process music before you comment.

      2. no nigga. its not the practice track. it is the blueprint to the finalized track. you telling niggas to earn the process when you dont even know what it is smfh.

      3. drake is the most untalented bitch made puppet pop singer since milli vanilli. he is a puppet that recites verses and lyrics written by others down in the ovo sweatshop dungeon word for word. if he can’t find someone to write songs for him he will just steal lyrics and beats from others. [rappin 4-tay], [p-diddy], [dram]. his legend? lol! the song legend is written by pnd and fake drake recites pnd’s lyrics word for word. FAKE DRAKE GETTIN FAKER BY THE DAY! #THE 6FRAUD WITH VIEWS FROM A BITCH #DRAKEISFAKEDRAKEISWACK

      4. You know who cares, Drake cares sure he’s rich any bitch he wants Ellen DeGeneres’s couch. He will never be the goat he will never be as revered

      5. as Nas never be on the same level as Hov, hell he’s not even on Kdots radar as far a being a true hip hop purist. He’s the 6fraud . You do know a reference track is a bare bones guide meant to lead whoever is following right. It’s not mastered or mixed. You do know that right. Legends don’t put out bars that aren’t crafted by their hands not true rap legends not lyricist. Producing legends like Dre Yes, Puffy Yes, Katy Perry Yes, Celine Dion Yes, Justin Beiber Yes, Nsync Yes, Backstreet Boys Hell Yes, Nobody wrote Biggie rhymes Jays rhymes Em’s rhymes, Nas rhymes. Pacs Rhymes. Drake will never be there it’s over Corpse. Now can you please release the grasp you got on the 6frauds cock please.

    14. Aubrey is so stupid he couldn’t even write the lame lyrics for his verse on Work. The Drake Hive is about to go ballistic

    15. DX “WE” dont care!! N fuck HIPHOPDX for whatever they tryna achieve by doing this.

      1. So much on this dude cock you mad at the reporters. HAHAHAAHAHAHAHAH……………….. I really hope your a female

      1. you cant buy the disc at gas station dude. Its exclusive at Apple for downloads. So thanks for exposing Drake haters for what they are. nerds who arent great at lies.

      2. WHAAAAATTTT??? Bahahahahahahaha. You know how fast can burn cd dumbass? I’ll tell you. Album drops at 12 am, download MY CD THAT I PAY FOR, Then burn it. DO YOU KNOW WAHT DOWNLOAD IS? Stupid drake fan looking for a reason to keep there drakedom pure.lololool

      3. That’s cause Drake fans ain’t ever been to any hood gas stations. They just like they boy drake rich kids frontin like they from the streets. When they punk ass ain’t never seen no side of street life. Suburban kids need to be more like Hopsin and know their lane. You can get yours messin with the wrong people

      4. oh your naming songs from the album lol …oh dude has some clever one liners every now then but his lack of authenticity over shadows that when I hear it …it’s not real…there’s an urban legend in my hood bout Drake getting his shoe pissed on ina movie theatre type tips boy and drake ain’t do shyte….so that’s all I think bout when I hear drake is a lame getting his shoe pissed on…you can’t rap tuff if u don’t write flows and get your shoe pissed on…I can’t jig w fake

      5. Could you please release the grasp you got on Drakes cock. He’s a pop star. He will never go down as the goat or even be put in the convo cause he does not write his own music. It’s ok for beyonce, rhianna madonna, katy perry, but hip hop lyricist write their rhymes. Release…………………………

      8. wtf u talkin bout lame? I don’t fuk w drake weak asss…he gets no love in my city only lil beckys listen to him

    17. In the almighty words of Drake “Yall tried to tell us ur side of the story, we heard yall but wasn’t hearing yall” give up already Henry Mansell n all dem other haters lol

    18. Every time I hear Party next door sing I wanna spoon my eardrums out. I don’t even hear the Company reference in that first song

    19. Meek Mill was correct, Drake really is the milli vanilli of our generation. The entire ghostwriting situation forces you to wonder how much work Drake put in for his albums. And it doesn’t stop at just rap, he steals from the culture and other rappers swagger or appeal and uses it to make himself more popular. For example he stole the Sauce Twinz sauce dance, he also stole Mo Gs dance, stole the mario beat from D.R.A.M and changed it a little bit and turned it into hotline bling, etc. Drake does nothing but steal. He might change it a little bit but ask yourself this, would Drake be so popular if he didn’t have the catchy bars and swagger that he steals from other people? Would his hit song legend have been popular without that line or flow? Would Hotline bling be popular without drams beat? Would his RICO verse have been as popular? etc etc.

      1. The beat from hotline bling is from Timmy Thomas- why can’t we live together. He let Drake use it and was actually proud of him

    20. regardless of what you drake phagit fans believe, he is not invincible and I ashamedly bought his weak s as albums for three dollars a burnt disc….if u need me to prove it too you let me know how…the Arabs got the hook up on everything in the hood including Drakes weak phag music….and it’s crap….I didn’t know you would be so envious I got his album…it’s not like yaw missing out on anything

    21. legend is the hook – thats it and PND is credited – big deal. THIS IS NORMAl in HIPHOP for other artists to write hooks. Company – I cant even even here Drake’s Company in that version by PND. Nothing sounds even similar plus its probably the worst song on the album. This is getting ridiculous how haters cant stand Drake. Drake haters need to laid…

      1. Not just the hook on Legend, it’s majority of the song. You need to go back and listen to legend.

      2. Not just the hook on Legend, it’s majority of the song. You need to go back and listen to legend.

      3. Also if you listen close enough you will also hear that Drake lifted a few lines from PND’s first verse for Views track U With Me? The part that says “You knew me when the kid had waves, But that’s enough of that, You could never say I came up and forgot about your ass, And that’s some real shit” SMH

      4. I disagree that its the majority of the song. Its another part at the end there, sure, but so what? its a singing song and PND is clealry credited. Whats the controversy? The 4 bars for “U with Me?” is another weird accusation. who really cares? Method Man gave Ghostface 4 bars for Cherchez La Ghost. Is Ghostface a fraud now? Drake has said he uses collaborators. He has said this years ago even WAY before the reference tracks ever dropped but then he addressed it again saying yes he uses collaborators. He has never been shy about admitting it. Chuck D used Paris. Ice Cube used Del the Funky Homosapien. Eazy-E used Ice Cube. Run DMC used LL Cool J. Beastie Boys used Run DMC. Lil Wayne used Drake. Phife Dawg used Q-Tip. ODB used GZA for lines. Get over it man. Even KRS-One doesnt even care. In the industry, this is not unusual. Writing songs often involves collaboration.

      5. A lot of bullshit lies about the MC’s you mentioned. LL didn’t write for Run Dmc. Ice Cube was never affiliated with Del. Phyfe wrote his own shit. Drake definitely didn’t write for wayne.

      6. Thedude – you dont much about hiphop. Google my friend cuz I cant put links in this post. LL Cool J wrote the entire song for RUN DMC “Can you Rock it like this”. Ice Cube and Del wrote for each other – well documented – they are cousins. Phife Dawg admited in an interview that Q-Tip wrote all of Tribe Called Quest’s first album INCLUDING his verses. Well-documented that Drake wrote for Wayne and Wayne has wrote for Drake. Thedude – you dont know your hiphop so pls sit down – you out of your league here.

    22. No one cares, Drake is a not an MC, he is a rapper in the same vane as Vanilla ice, Tone Loc And Kanye West. Drake is a good rapper with a loyal following, but he is no Nas, Eminem or J. Cole

    23. Damn now every song that I like from Drake is suspect. I wonder who wrote Summer 16? or Know Yourself? I actually want to listen to the artist that wrote those songs!

    24. Hahahahahaha and so it begins. Hopefully this time no one gives him a pass. No passes over here boy

    25. Real hip hop artists write their own lyrics. End of story. If u like the way it sounds then cool whatever buy his shit. But all this ovo God shit needs to end if he is going to keep doing this

    26. Real hip hop artists write their own lyrics. End of story. If u like the way it sounds then cool whatever buy his shit. But all this ovo God shit needs to end if he is going to keep doing this

    27. now i see why diddy TKO’d drakes face so hard he wasn’t shrugging his shoulder for weeks. he tried to steal material from puff like he was PND. POW!

      1. not like diddy wrote his shit… Nas wrote most of them hence the line “Don’t worry if I write rhymes / I write checks.” (Bad Boy for Life)

    28. I see Funk Flex still has his private detectives out searching for Drake reference tracks. It’s so pathetic how these dumbass unoriginal American “hip-hop” acts hate on what OVO has done. Face it, Drake will go down as one of the all-time greats and premier faces of hip-hop, just like Pac, Biggie, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Ll Cool J, Eminem, Nas etc. There is nothing anybody can do to stop the OVO movement. I’m so glad that Drake has distanced himself from bums like Rick Ross, DJ Khaled and Meek Mill. Drake made so many hit records for people and made so much money for complete no talent bums. What made Drake was his flows, hooks, songwriting (yes, he’s won songwriting awards and writes for other artists). The OVO sound, which includes 40 and Boi 1da is a big part too, that’s why people dug So Far Gone. Now that he’s ditched all the freeloading bums like Rick Ross, his sales keep increasing, meanwhile the freeloading bums are catching nothing but charges, feelings and L’s. OVO Sound forever. Drake, 40, Boi 1da, PND and PReign are real niggas making nothing but dope music.

      1. How can you accuse “american hip hop acts” as being “unoriginal” when your hero is a fraud who uses other people’s material. The cold winter up in Ottawa has frozen your brain into a worthless pile of meat.

      2. How can you accuse “american hip hop acts” as being “unoriginal” when your hero is a fraud who uses other people’s material. The cold winter up in Ottawa has frozen your brain into a worthless pile of meat.

    29. I hope Drake gets throat cancer and dies. Stop copying us Americans, you jealous Brits and Canadians.
