One Be Lo Inks Signs To MYX Music, New Album

    Two years after The R.E.B.I.R.T.H [click to read], Michigan based rapper, One Be Lo, inks new deal with Bay area-based label and hits the studio for an upcoming album.

    With claim to fame as one half of the dynamic Binary Star duo, One Be Lo continues to be a moving force within the Hip Hop industry. Continuing to embark on his music career as a solo artist, the Pontiac, Michigan native hopped on board with MYX Music Label, the innovative home base for underground artists such as Kam Moye (Supastition), Jern Eye and D. Black.

    “I’m excited to get MYX Music Label involved with this next album – it already feels more like a family than a business,” said One Be Lo in a press release. “I’ve recorded and toured with [MYX Music Label head] Karim in the past, so I know he understands the artist perspective,” he continued.

    True to word play form, One Be Lo’s new album is titled B.A.B.Y., an acronym meaning Being a Black Youth. This autobiographical piece takes listeners on a journey through time, reliving moments in his childhood that involve issues such as education, family, crime and angst in America.

    With an anticipated release in February 2010, the album is set to feature some of the most versatile lyricists in Hip Hop including Jean Grae, Phonte of Little Brother, Zion I, Royce Da 5’9”, Freeway, and more. The roll call of industry heavy weights is just one of the advantages for One Be Lo fans. B.A.B.Y. is also a multi-media project that incorporates music, film, books, clothing and toys.

    Having shared stages with legendary artists such as KRS-One, Wu-Tang Clan and Rakim, in addition to working with talented producers like Jake One and Vitamin D, his career as an independent artist will undoubtedly continue to thrive.

    MYX Music Label was founded in 2007 by Karim Panni of the Boop Bap Project (Rhymesayers Entertainment) in affiliation with MYX TV, with the intent of utilizing the visual network platform to promote independent Hip Hop and urban music artists.
