Ol’ Dirty Bastard Merchandise to Hit Stores in February

The estate of the Ol’ Dirty Bastard, who passed on November 13, 2004, has entered into an agreement with MerchDirect to produce a line of t-shirts, posters and other accessories with the rapper’s image on them.

ODB’s widow, Icelene Jones, entered into the agreement with MerchDirect for the new lines, which should hit stores in February, according to Newsday.

“We feel that ODB appeals to Taking Back Sunday’s fans but also appeals
to a Joss Stone fan or the white suburban kids who totally love it and
get it, and it’s authentic Hip-Hop that real Hip-Hop guys are going to
    go for,”
said MerchDirect co-founder Lee Tepper. “He is definitely an
artist that crosses boundaries of genres, and he not only appeals to
all genres, but he’s respected, and everyone can relate to his
    wackiness in a way.”

After ODB’s death in 2004, court battles over the rapper’s estate shelved his then-forthcoming album, and since then has appeared only in features. He was recently eulogized on the Wu-Tang Clan’s latest album The 8 Diagrams on the tribute song Life Changes.
