N.O.R.E. pumped up the crowd when coming out to his 1998 hit “Banned From T.V.” and then ran through standout cuts from his decorated catalog such as Capone-N-Norega’s ‘Y’all Don’t Wanna,” “T.O.N.Y.” and “Bang, Bang,” the original of which features Foxy Brown dissing Lil’ Kim, who also performed at the festival.

The peaks of N.O.R.E.’s set came with The Neptunes-produced “Nothin” and “Superthug,” according to DX staffers present for the performance.

Although he brought the energy and provided one of the festival highlights, the 45-year-old Drink Champs host joked on multiple occasions about possibly hanging up his mic with this being his final time on stage for the foreseeable future.

With the massive success of his podcast, performances have become more rare for N.O.R.E., who delivered a memorable set at LL COOL J’s Rock The Bells Festival in NYC last summer.

HipHopDX caught up with N.O.R.E. at Lovers & Friends where he revealed his goal for the Drink Champs podcast was to humanize his superhero rap friends with his show and he highlighted Nas as the guest that’s been the most surreal to join him for an episode.

“That’s my brother and I never really wanted to interview him at all because he’s my brother, but the fact that he did sit down…it’s very weird to ask people questions that you don’t wanna ask them. I’m not the police, and they know I’m not the police, but at the end of the day, I wanna have fun and I wanna make them surreal,” he said.

N.O.R.E. continued: “At the end of the day, all Hip Hop stars is superheroes, but the thing is what makes Drink Champs Drink Champs is I don’t make ’em superheroes; I make them Clark Kents.”
