Nicki Minaj has opened up about the draining recording process to ensure she made the deadline for Lil Uzi Vert‘s new album Pink Tape.

Shortly after the album’s arrival at midnight on Friday (June 30), Nicki took to Twitter reveal that she spent 10 hours writing her guest verse on “Endless Fashion” before turning it in at the last minute.

She added that during this process, she had to continually ask Uzi for more time while assuring him that she’d deliver before the cut-off point.

“Girl I started @ 8am & finished like 5pm. When I tell you I was exhausted by the time I was done. Lol. B/c I was rushing to get it in on time,” she wrote in response to Uzi’s girlfriend, JT, who had applauded her for “how fast you turned your verse in.”

“I kept telling him ’30 mins’ then hitting him back 2 hours later TB 15-20 more minutes Uzi!!!! I did that ALL DAY LONG YO!”

“Endless Fashion” ultimately made the cut and serves as the third collaboration between Nicki Minaj and Lil Uzi Vert following Meek Mill’s “Froze” and 2017’s “The Way Life Goes (Remix).”

The two rappers interpolate parts of the robotic flow from Eiffel 65’s 1998 dance hit “Blue (Da Ba Dee),” which was also recently sampled on Bebe Rexha’s 2022 “I’m Good (Blue)” collaboration with David Guetta.

Uzi is no stranger to flexing their wardrobe’s drip and they do it throughout “Endless Fashion.” “I sold my soul for Chrome Heart mixed with Carhartt/ Yes, I’m splashin’ in fashion, I can’t take no loss,” they rap over the Bugz Ronin production.

The Philadelphia native recently claimed they wear the fashion crown in Hip Hop over the likes of the “Fashion Killa” himself A$AP Rocky.

“Mike Jones really helped me be not repetitive in a bad way…” they said during an interview with Billboard at the 2023 BET Awards this past weekend. “Kendrick helped me with my flow, [and] A$AP Rocky helped me with my clothes.”

Uzi continued by saying the tables have since turned, and now they are better-dressed than Lord Flacko: “I’m flyer than A$AP Rocky nowadays. He can’t touch me nowadays… He know I got them pieces in the corner, but shoutout to Flacko, though.”
