Nicki Minaj has finally gotten an apology from Erica Mena, who said that their mutual ex Safaree had turned the Love and Hip Hop star against the Pink Friday rap icon, which she regrets.
Mena was a guest on the latest Bunnie XO’s Dumb Blonde podcast, which dropped on Monday (December 23). Almost immediately, she began discussing her contentious divorce from Safaree, the former L&HH star and musician who was a longterm partner of Minaj’s in the aughts and 2010s.

Mena said that she realized Safaree had been cheating, which made her re-think her previously negative opinion of Minaj — an opinion, she said, that had been influenced by Safaree’s lies.
“I owe her the biggest apology ever,” Mena said of Nicki.

She explained that, because she was being “love bombed” by Safaree, she took him at his word when he discussed “all the things [Nicki] did to him.”
“It’s funny how life comes full circle,” Mena noted. “Because the same thing he did to her, he’s doing to me years later.

“I remember him pouring his heart out to me about all the stuff she did to him, showing me videos of her reacting. I didn’t think to ask, well, what did you do to her?”
She recalled that Safaree was at one point “saying whatever he could to ruin [Minaj’s] career and take [credit] for her…work.”

“I owe this woman an apology because I sat there and allowed him to talk about her to me. And from that came me defending and vouching for him in a way that was tacky, because at the end of the day, I didn’t know the truth.
“It comes full circle,” she continued. “Tables always turn. Everything she has ever said about him is true. Everything that she went through with him, I’m going through it worse.”

In addition to Mena’s apology, Nicki has had other recent triumphs as well. Notably, she reclaimed the throne for highest-selling female rapper of the year from Doja Cat for 2024.
Chart Data revealed on November 30 that Minaj has thus far out-sold her fellow women in rap this year. Behind her at No. 2 is Doja, and Megan Thee Stallion, GloRilla and Sexyy Red round out the top five.

Last year, Minaj and Doja were in reverse positions, while Meg remained at No. 3, Cardi B held down the No. 4 spot and Ice Spice was at No. 5.
