New Music Friday: New Singles From A$AP Rocky & J. Cole, Sexyy Red, Wale & More

    New Music Friday has delivered the goods this week. A$AP Rocky appears to return fire at Drake on his fiery J. Cole collaboration “Ruby Rosary,” which also features production from The Alchemist.

    Sexyy Red will also have people talking about her once again as she drops a couple of tracks at once, while fellow female MC Megan Thee Stallion goes the more commercial route by collaborating with BTS star RM and remixing Queen’s classic hit “We Will Rock You.”

    Pharrell also recruits some high-profile guests in Lil Wayne and Lil Yachty (plus Kyle Richh) for his raucous “Can’t Hold Me Down,” with Wale, Central Cee and Boldy James also delivering fresh drops.

    Appearing to further address the shots that Drake has thrown his way, “Ruby Rosary” continues the rollout for A$AP Rocky’s long-awaited Don’t Be Dumb. Fans will also be delighted by the fact that J. Cole sounds more energized than he has done in a while.

    Sexyy Red — “U Kno What to Do (UKWTD)” + “Clouted Up”

    The controversial “SkeeYee” star is back with a double dose of new tracks to keep fans happy and her enemies talking. Unlikely to win over many new admirers, the two songs continue her party vibe with her trademark sexually explicit lyrics.

    Wale is also back with a two-pack, headlined by “Ghetto Speak” which was the centerpiece of his recent Nike campaign. The tracks will leave fans wanting more as they only total three minutes in length together.

    Pharrell feat. Lil Wayne, Lil Yachty & Kyle Richh — “Can’t Hold Me Down”

    Big time synths and booming drums, Pharrell’s latest offering plays with Yeezus-era sonics and gives a platform to another standout Lil Wayne verse. The only downside is the awkward Lil Yachty hook.

    Megan Thee Stallion feat. RM of BTS — “Neva Play”

    After a week of teasing the collaboration, the Houston Hottie continues her crossover success by teaming up with K-Pop superstar RM. “Neva Play” finds the two trading bars about their success on what is sure to be a smash hit.

    Quavo & Ty Dolla Sign — “If I Fall”

    From the soundtrack to the upcoming Transformers One, Quavo and Ty Dolla $ign work it over a pop-rock influenced beat that ticks many of the boxes for a typical movie theme. There are the expected references to various Transformers and Ty even manages to give a shoutout to The Matrix.
