Ne-Yo had quite the welcome in his hometown of Las Vegas to kick off his new residency this week, being honored with his own day as well as a key to the city.
Just two songs into his set at the Encore Theatre at Wynn Las Vegas on Wednesday (August 7), LV Mayor Carolyn Goodman surprised the singer on stage to present him with the key.

Dubbing him “Las Vegas’ own superstar,” Goodman thanked him for the philanthropic work he’s done for the city and was also sure to note that his key “has extra jewels than the one we gave to Usher two months ago.” After all, he his a hometown hero!
Ne-Yo has returned to the Boys & Girls Club in Las Vegas many times throughout the years to give back to the youth, eventually resulting in an induction into the club’s Alumni Hall of Fame.
In other news, Ne-Yo was praised by his girlfriend earlier this summer for owning up to past indiscretions on his new song “2 Million Secrets.”
Arielle Hill, one of Ne-Yo’s two current girlfriends, took to Instagram Stories to share her thoughts on the track.

She wrote: “Proud of you. Accountability…Owning your shit. And not letting anyone tell you different about yourself. Everyone messes up but a lot of people will not admit it because they are too busy judging others For things they know nothing about.”
Ne-Yo shared his thoughts on the single during his NPR’s Tiny Desk performance the week prior. He re-posted a clip from the performance and penned his thoughts regarding its meaning.
He wrote: “As opinions fly freely in regard to me, the only one I’m really putting any interest or energy towards is my own, how I feel about who I am. Like every other human alive, I’ve made some mistakes. And some people have decided to let those mistakes define me, chosen to judge me based off those mistakes. And that’s fine. GOD’s judgement of me however, is the only one that truly matters.
“‘2 Million Secrets’ is another opportunity for people to voice opinion and pass judgement. But it’s also an opportunity for me to own my sh*t, show remorse for my actions and the people I’ve wronged and overall forgive and better myself. For me. Not you.”

He concluded: “I don’t mind if you don’t like me. I’ve only ever asked you to like and respect my art, my music. So, with that being said, please enjoy my latest #2MillionSecrets…coming soon!”
