NBA YoungBoy and Birdman are full steam ahead on the forthcoming sequel to the cult classic Baller Blockin – and they’ve tapped a director who’s worked with the likes of J. Cole, T.I., Rick Ross and more.
More credits for the film were released on Sunday (February 26). In addition to revealing that YoungBoy will serve as an executive producer alongside Birdman, it also revealed Clifton Bell as the director.

According to IMDb, Bell has directed J. Cole’s first two videos, “Work Out” and the Trey Songz-assisted “Can’t Get Enough.” Along with the aforementioned Tip and Rick Ross, Bell has also directed videos for Trey Songz with Fabolous, The Roots, Bobby Shmurda, Gucci Mane with Migos and Lil Yachty and most recently, Latto’s “Sex Lies” with Lil Baby.

Birdman and NBA YoungBoy first teased the movie’s arrival on their respective social media pages in October, sharing a movie poster featuring the title Baller Blockin 2.
The poster also contained an image of downtown New Orleans — the birthplace of Birdman’s Cash Money empire — along with Cash Money Records, Rich Gang and NBA YoungBoy’s respective logos.

Released in December 2000 following Cash Money and Hot Boys’ rise to fame, Baller Blockin was a dramatic retelling of life in New Orleans’ notorious Magnolia Projects.
The movie starred Lil Wayne, Juvenile, B.G., Turk, Mannie Fresh, Birdman and Cash Money co-founder Ronald “Slim” Williams, as well as actor-comedians T.K. Kirkland and the late Anthony “A.J.” Johnson.
Baller Blockin was accompanied by a soundtrack album featuring music from the label’s all-star roster, along with outside guests like Nas, E-40, UGK, 8Ball & MJG and Mack 10. It debuted at No. 13 on the Billboard 200 after selling over 80,000 copies in its first week.
While he’s not working on his new film career, NBA YoungBoy is still grinding it out in his music career as well. In a conversation with Billboard earlier this month, he revealed he’s sitting on over 1,000 unreleased songs.

The writer explained YoungBoy is usually playing with his Xbox or recording music all night long that he freestyles off the top of his head. He doesn’t use any pen or paper and instead taps into whatever he’s going through at that moment to fuel his lyrics.
YoungBoy dropped off his first album of 2023, I Rest My Case, last month. The project debuted at No. 9 on the Billboard 200 after moving 29,000 copies in its first week.
I Rest My Case marked YoungBoy’s ninth project in just over a year, as he continued his fiery tear with new tunes since being found not guilty in his federal gun case back in July.
