Nas has been on quite a run as of late as far as putting out new music, and apparently he’s not done, revealing in a new interview that he’s back in the studio once more.
Speaking to Vanity Fair for an article published on Monday (June 26), the legendary rapper expressed his excitement about getting back into the studio, noting that he feels he’s in a “creative growth spurt” of sorts and still desires to make music that makes people feel something.
“I’m in one of these creative growth spurts,” he said. “It’s something that I’m really excited about, and it surprises me – but I’m not too, too surprised because I was also waiting for the day that I felt like this again, and I knew it would come.”
When asked about his King Disease series with Hit-Boy, and if he plans to continue creating consecutive records, he shared that he really enjoys the “constant flow” of music and that he doesn’t “wanna stop it once it’s flowing the way it’s flowing.”
“It feels very free, and I just wanna see what happens as I stick to it. And I’ve been sticking to it, and it’s been my whole life now,” he explained. “Like, if I’m recording, I don’t do anything else, really. It hasn’t been this way for me for probably 20 years. I think that’s what I think today, maybe tomorrow I think about, well, actually accurately, seven years, or since I’ve been really in the studio, but when it comes in my head now, it’s been that long—20 years.”
As Hip Hop celebrates its 50th anniversary, the rapper also discussed his relationship with the genre. Being 49 years old, the rapper and Hip Hop essentially grew up together.
Aside from this, he also spoke about the changes he wants to see in society going forward.
“Science, medicine, food. Best food for us, best medicine for us, best understanding of science is what I wanna figure out,” Nas said. “Like, in general, for people, where is this going? Science, it talks about shortages of food. Ice Age moments, other galaxies, our atmosphere, all of those things. How do we protect humanity?”
Meanwhile, it was recently revealed that the original version of 50 Cent’s “Back Down” — which hears the G-Unit mogul roast Ja Rule and Murder Inc. — reportedly took aim at Nas, JAY-Z and Cam’ron.
One of the producers on the project, Sha Money XL, recalled 50 Cent firing off at other rappers on an unreleased version of the track as part of Diverse Mentality’s Get Rich or Die Tryin’ 20th anniversary documentary.
Do it while you can nas. If the creativity is there put it out.
Somebody tell mr Dr. Dre to do the same. Dude is doing everything in his power to keep us away from classic material.
Favorite emcee of all time! Pushing 50 and hasn’t lost a step!
Tekashi’s better
More bad news for Jay Z Stan’s. Nas is up 42-13 and still throwing Touchdowns. He’s really trying to make Jay an after thought. Nas is the Goat. PAC is the most impactful. BIG did the most in the shortest period of time.
Jay Z is way too ahead of Nas musically and business wise to care. Jay not chasing that rapper shit no more LOL Imagine still caring about dropping albums at 50+Dude told you in 98 where he would be today. Rich and dropping bars when he feels like it.
Jay Z is way too ahead of Nas musically? That’s funny. I needed that laugh.
4:44 was trash. Kingdom come was trash. Magna Carta was trash. Unfinished business was trash. The Carters was trash. The fake Basquiat look is trash. The 35min GodDid verse was trash. Jay music is aging badly when you think about it. Not sure he’s even top 10
You’re funny… Jay Z will never be ahead of Nas when it comes to this music is
Ok stop lol…. Nas is better then jay but Jay is still top ten imo I think mad sealed it with the kings disease series I honestly think Jay at 50 is just in a different place
Escobar Season continues.

Watch your mouth bitch ass. I smack people like you. Don’t you ever disrespect, goat Nas. Your name fits your description.
Praying God Son has tranquility and longevity in that awesome creative headspace he’s in right now. The King’s Disease trilogy gave new life to culture when the fans least expected. Top it off with The NY State of Mind tour with the legendary Wu Tang. Been there waiting with him every moment of those 20 years. God’s time is always best.
