For three years Dr. Dre, MC Ren, Ice Cube and Snoop Dogg (filling in for the late Eazy-E) have been talking about completing a N.W.A reunion album. Going one step further to prove their point, all four rappers got together three years ago to record a track for Ice Cube’s movie ‘Next Friday’, while performing together on television shows and the Up In Smoke Tour. Recently Dr. Dre spoke on why after two years the album which was set to be titled “Not Those N***** Again”, has yet to get started. “I would love to do it, but its just like, that seems like a project that is close to impossible to get done because all of us are doing so much other stuff”, Dre said. “You can’t make a record if you can only get together once a month. If we just stayed around each other for a month just to get started and get it rollin’ and get everybody excited about it, then I think it could happen. All of us being here in L.A., it will never happen”.
With Ice Cube presently working on several movie projects and a new album, Snoop Dogg also working on a new album, running his own record label and making several movies, it has almost become impossible to fit Dre’s 2002 schedule into theirs. Currently Dr. Dre is working on his own album ‘Detox’, producing albums for Eminem, Rakim, Knoc-Turnal and Turth Hurts, along with a collaboration album with fellow producer and part-time rapper, Timbaland titled ‘Chairmen of the Board’. “We’re still talking about it, actually”, Dre said. “The idea hasn’t dissolved away. Again it’s just a matter of us finding the time to come in and get it down. I’m not sure how we would do it, but it would definitely be most of the new artist we are working with involved in it”.
