Mya has revealed all the benefits of abstaining from sex for seven years.
The triple threat stopped by Angela Yee‘s Way Up on Thursday (July 25) and spoke to the media personality about her journey through celibacy.
When asked about the benefits of staying away from sex, Mya said clarity was the chief result.
She added: “Mental clarity. It shifted my mindset. It was no longer a focus. The rush to be in a relationship, the rush to be married, the rush to be in something because that’s what you’re taught to do — to have kids or to procreate. There’s a lot of pressure on women to be able to do that.”
She continued: “Why are we taught that we have to be taken or made an honest woman? … Love is beautiful, and I think the world always needs more of it, but I think you must start with yourself. I have to start with self always, versus expecting from other sources. It was just reconditioning. It’s something that was necessary, because it’s a very spiritual thing. You must be very selective if you want better results. That self-accountability started with me by shutting that part of my life off.”

Though Mya seemed to have beneficial results because of her celibacy, there’s another Hip-Hop figure that’s not convinced it works.
Back in May, Ice-T found it quite weird that Lenny Kravitz has been able to go nearly a decade without sex.
The rocker revealed his celibacy journey in a new conversation with The Guardian, explaining the nine-year timeline stems from the last time he was in a serious relationship.
Catching wind of the comment, Ice took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his thoughts.
“9yrs without sex? F that BS. Weirdo shit,” he began – though he later deleted the tweet. However, his further conversation with fans about the matter remains up.
When one person responded that it’s not weird and it’s Lenny’s personal journey, Ice replied, “F that Journey…. lol.” He then added: “Hey….. If you’re a Guy and you can voluntarily go 9yrs without sex… You’re following the wrong page..”
Someone else replied and asked why he’s judging, to which Ice said, “Shit’s Weird to me….. I love to Fuck. A lot.”
