Ms. Jade, who worked with Timbaland and Missy “Misdemeanor” Elliott throughout the early 2000s, recently spoke about parting ways with the two producers to build upon her work independently during an interview with Billboard.
“It was growing pains,” Ms. Jade says of her parting ways with Timbaland and Missy. “Me and Tim had built what we built. At that time, we weren’t seeing eye to eye. I thought the album could have done more than it did. So, I wanted to try it my way. I wanted to try to do it from the ground up. And they thought, ‘Oh well.’ I went through a time where I was devastated after parting ways, not knowing what I’d do but then I told myself, ‘I’m still Jade.’ I felt like that was just a part of my story. They gave me the opportunity to change and see the world and I appreciate that.”
It’s been years since she parted ways with Timbaland and Missy, but now Ms. Jade says she is prepared to be her most honest with Beautiful Mess, her upcoming EP.
“Right now, I’m working on EP right called Beautiful Mess,” Jade says. “It’s all original songs. I’m also singing on this project; I started singing…I found a few dope upcoming producers on YouTube for the EP. I want it be more musical because I’ll be performing the songs with a live band…Lyrically, I’m 100 percent honest this time. I talk about everything, from feeling like I’m not good enough at times to people once wanting to change me. I’m much more comfortable. I’m talking about family, friends and men… life.”
Jade was interviewed by Billboard as part of the publication’s Ladies First: 31 Female Rappers Who Changed Hip-Hop article. Yo Yo, MC Lyte, Angel Haze and Charli Baltimore have also been included in the series.

At the end though, Nicki is about to drop her third album while Missy Elliot can’t get an album out.

WHO???????????????????
DON’T HATE ON MY OPINION!!!!
i remember when you used to post on SOHH.com back in 09 and ’10
I’ll give it a spin when it comes out. I liked a lot of those records with Timbaland back in the day. She had flow.
Her album was pretty good though and the beats banged something crazy. She ain’t gonna last without Timbaland and should stick to raising babies
Uhhh…she doesn’t have any children
I remember her. She was and still is a dope artist. I think she one of them females like Mia X who ain’t get they due shine. Speaking of which, I’d love to see her and Mia on a project together. I hope the world for her and her future mane. A real lyrical female emcee….
