Monica has confirmed that she and C-Murder are no longer together after going public with a new relationship.

The R&B singer stepped out with her new boo, Anthony Wilson — who happens to be Chris Brown‘s manager — at Nelly‘s Black and White Ball over the weekend, and some fans were surprised to find out she had moved on.

In response, Monica wrote in an Instagram comment: “Well, here it is in short. I got my heartbroken (again) and that’s ok! I learned yet another valuable lesson.

“I went through it, got over it, now I can laugh about it! Life continues! I feel great that he has representation to one day be free! Let’s move forward.”

In a separate comment, she urged fans to follow her lead and also move on, writing: “OMGGGGG I haven’t said his name in 2 yrs can yall follow my lead like yall did when I brought him up? One band one sound.”

She added: “This comment section is everything but half yall lying! I can tell by your responses when I perform ‘should’ve known better’ LOL The difference between you and I, is I’m not ashamed! Live, Learn (some lessons twice), Grow! Good Day.”

Monica and C-Murder’s relationship dates back to the ’90s when they were reportedly introduced by their mutual friend, Foxy Brown.

The former No Limit Records rapper is currently serving a life sentence in prison for the shooting death of 16-year-old Steve Thomas in 2002. He has repeatedly seen his efforts to have his conviction overturned denied, with the most recent appeal taking place in federal court last week.

Meanwhile, Monica and Anthony Wilson previously sparked dating rumors in October after the music manager wished the singer a happy birthday on Instagram.

“Happy birthday babe,” he wrote, to which she replied: “Thank you my love, you’ve treated me like everyday was my birthday.”

It’s unclear when Monica and Murder broke up exactly, but Essence reported in June that her new boo accompanied her to her son Romelo’s basketball game to cheer him on.
