Michel’le recently addressed her relationship with Dr. Dre during an interview with allhiphop.com, speaking about the work that they did together.
“It was hard because he only knew how to do Hip Hop and I only knew R&B,” Michel’le said. “We didn’t know what we were creating. We infused the two together and created a new sound. Going in to the studio, you’ve got to come in knowing, or he’s going home. If he doesn’t leave the studio that night with something that he would like to listen to, you might not get a call back for a while and that hasn’t changed.”
During the interview, Michel’le also spoke about why she decided to put her career on hold when she gave birth to Dr. Dre’s child.
“I got pregnant with Dre’s son,” she said. “I became a mommy and I didn’t mind because one of us had to work. Both of us couldn’t stay home. It was hard because we were young and we had to figure it out. When that happens, things can change. At that point I felt that I should start building a family. We were rich too, and when you give a kid that much money, well, that’s all I’m going to say. It was fun. I wouldn’t take a day back. I’ll say that. And my son is awesome.”
Michel’le was also asked about Tim Dog’s “Fuck Compton,” a diss record about several rappers, particularly artists from Compton., California. Dr. Dre is from Compton. On the song, Tim Dog says he had sexual relations with Michel’le.
“I never knew who that was,” Michel’le said of Tim Dog. “People have told me but I’ve never addressed it because I don’t know who that is. I’m not hating, I’m just stating. We were like, ‘Where is this coming from?’ There wasn’t even an East Coast or West Coast rivalry at the time. Dre is above all of that. He’s a genius. He had a five-year plan back then and it turned in to a 20-year plan. Whenever he would teach me things, I would listen. He was very educational and I thank God for that.”
According to allhiphop.com, Michel’le did not discuss her current relationship status with Dr. Dre because her publicist asked that the question be avoided.
Michel’le released her self-titled debut album in 1989 on Ruthless Records. She released her follow-up Hung Jury on Death Row Records in 1998. In 2010, the singer released Doveluv Records’ I Understand.
Recently, Michel’le appeared on R&B Divas LA, a reality television program. On the show, Michel’le said that Dr. Dre beat her and that Suge Knight tried to abuse her also, according to a transcript of the program’s reunion show via necolebitchie.com.
“It’s in my book, but getting beat was love to me,” Michel’le reportedly said on the show. “Believe it or not, when I got with Suge, he really didn’t beat me. I asked him, ‘Why aren’t you beating me? You don’t like me?’ I asked him that.”
When the host of the program’s reunion, Wendy Williams, said that the abusive person was likely Dr. Dre, Michel’le continued.
“He knows it,” Michel’le said. “It was very public. It was very, very public so that wasn’t a secret. I did five videos and we had to cover three black eyes. It seemed like the day before a video, I would get a black eye and we had to cover it. I truly, truly, truly loved him, but it was okay and I truly thought he loved me. I didn’t take it as anything bad, nor did I grow up seeing it in my household. I finally realized that that wasn’t good, and believe it or not the person who helped me see that was Suge who helped me see that it wasn’t a normal thing…Suge tried to [rough me up] one time, but by that time, I was over it. Things flying. I was ready then…I appreciated that [Suge helped me]. I know it sounds really crazy, but it was my life. I can truly say that a lot of things that happened in my life, saved my life. Everything I’m going through saved my life.”

I got nothing personal against Michel’le. But she is using Dre’s name to try and sell her books. She has nothing to talk abou tthat I wanna here. That time with Dre was 20 years ago. And he wants nothing to do with her. Especially her having a baby by Suge. How dumb can U be!!
Pretty sad when a woman has to say she’s “not hating” when denying having sex with a guy.
