Metro Boomin is taking a page out of JAY-Z’s book by pleding to not cut his hair until his next album is completed.

The super-producer, who has promised three albums for fans in 2024, posted a selfie on Thursday (January 11) while saying he won’t shave or get a haircut until he gets across the finish line in the studio.

“No haircut or shave till the album turned in cause I’m in #thatmode drop some [barber, shave emojis] if you ready,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Find the post below, along with a funny reply from a fan forecasting what his facial hair might look like once his album is finished.

JAY-Z previously made a habit of not cutting his hair when working on an album, which he explained to Hot 97 in 2009 while cooking up The Blueprint 3.

“When I make music, I normally don’t cut my hair,” he said. “I started [working on The Blueprint 3] last year and it’s getting really bad. It’s terrible. But I think for the art, I can live with it.”

He added: “A lot of girls kind of like [it]. So I’m trying to hold onto it. I’m trying to elongate the album.”

It’s unclear which album Metro Boomin is referring to, but there’s a chance it could be his long-awaited joint project with Future that he’s promised will arrive this year.

Metro teased an unreleased track featuring Pluto and Travis Scott earlier this month, with the song reportedly titled “Cinderella” or “Family Forever.”

While a release date for the project has yet to be announced, Future confirmed last month that their eagerly anticipated collaboration is indeed “on the way.”

The pair have previously worked together on hits like “Mask Off,” “Low Life” and “Superhero (Heroes & Villains),” as well as Drake collaborations “Jumpman” and “Life is Good.”

In addition to the Future album, Metro Boomin has teased a joint project with J.I.D and another solo album to follow up 2022’s Heroes & Villains.
