Metro Boomin has unveiled the cover art for his new album Heroes & Villians, and it’s inspired by the iconic rock band Pink Floyd.
The cover art, which finds Young Metro shaking the hand of his twin who is engulfed in flames, harkens back to Pink Floyd’s seminal 1975 album Wish You Were Here, which came out during a tumultuous time for the band.

Metro also implied that there would be a Side A and Side B to the project, which drops on December 2.
“Heroes & Villains 12.2.22,” the Grammy-winning producer wrote on Instagram on Tuesday (November 22). “must be[two] sides.”

Metro Boomin announced Heroes & Villains with a cinematic trailer on September 16, his 29th birthday. While the album was originally slated for a November 4 release, Metro pushed the album back to December due to sample clearance issues.
“I couldn’t get all the samples on my album cleared in time for next week so I’m dropping on Dec 2nd now so I have enough time to make sure you all get this masterpiece as intended,” he wrote on Twitter. “I promise it’s worth the wait!! P.S. I would NEVER move my album date because of anyone else.”

He added on Instagram: “I’d rather drop a few weeks late than take any songs off of this complete body of work.”
The new album comes amidst a heartbreaking year for the St. Lois, Missouri native. As previously reported in June, Metro’s mother Leslie Wayne was shot and killed by her husband, who then turned the gun on himself. Law enforcement discovered Wayne’s body in an area outside of Atlanta.
Metro hosted a memorial service honoring his mother on June 18, and has since revealed Heroes & Villains is dedicated to her.
“This don’t even feel like real life no more it’s like a nightmare that never ends and starts over every time I wake up,” Metro wrote in an Instagram Story with multiple heartbreak emojis. “My mom was and still is my best friend in the universe and anybody who really know me know I’ve always been a momma’s boy my whole life.”

Heroes & Villains also might not be the only Metro Boomin project in the works. In June, Lil Durk sat down for an interview with Ebro Darden, where the Chicago rapper said his next album will be a joint project with Young Metro.
“As far as the next album, you must’ve heard something? Nah, it’s really the Metro [Boomin],” Durkio said. “Guaranteed.”
