Method Man and Fat Joe got real about their respective battles with depression over the years in a new conversation.

The pair sat down recently for Joe’s new Starz show, Fat Joe Talks. In a preview, Meth admitted that his struggles with mental health have never gone away fully, while Joe noted he had a particularly rough period following the deaths of Big Pun and a few family members.

“I go through these bouts with certain shit. It never really goes away,” Meth said, while noting that a text just checking in on your friends can go a long way.

Joe added: “I went through depression after my sister died, Pun died, my grandfather [at the] same time. So I was two years straight going to therapists. It could be a sunny day [and] shit look dark outside.”

When Meth asked if it made him aggressive toward his loved ones, Joe said no, but explained: “I was sleeping in the bathtub with no water running.”

Fat Joe Talks will “give viewers unique access into the lives of today’s most influential personalities who drive the cultural zeitgeist,” according to a press release over the summer. Each episode with be a half hour and will follow Joe to different locations across the country.

As for Method Man, he recently confirmed that he has a feature on Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre‘s highly anticipated Missionary album.

In a live interview with Drink Champs at REVOLT WORLD in Atlanta, the Wu-Tang Clan legend revealed that he will be making an appearance on the project.

After being asked about his dream collaboration would be with one other artist and one producer, Meth said: “I already did something with these guys but I’m gonna use it again: Snoop and Dre.”

He continued: “Every time I work with Dre, I feel like I need a do-over. The first time I was in the studio with him physically there, that chronic [hits] different. I spit a verse but it wasn’t up to par for me, so Dre was gracious enough not to put it out.

“The second shot I got is for the Dre and Snoop joint coming up. Woo! He got a lot of fire shit on there, man.”

The Tical MC was still self-critical of his performance on the album, adding: “And still, I feel like I could have done a little bit more, but I’m always gonna feel that way.”
