Rising Hip Hop star Megan Thee Stallion is mourning the loss of her mother and manager, Holly Thomas, who recently lost her battle with brain cancer.
The 24-year-old Houston native broke the heartbreaking news to fans on Instagram Friday (March 22) with a throwback picture of a young Megan and her mom.
“The best mom in the whole world,” she captioned in her post. “The strongest woman on the planet. I can’t even put complete sentences together rn RIP mama.”
She later confirmed on Instagram it was due to “a brain tumor that had been cancerous for a while.”
Megan was extremely close to her mother who was always right by her side from the beginning. Her mom and grandma are two of the biggest reasons the buzzing star chose to finish her Healthcare Administration degree at Texas Southern University and references this motivation on her Tina Snow EP cut “Tina Montana.”
“My momma told me to get em I got em / My granny told me you goin’ to school / Getting that degree and making it cool,” she spits on the track.
Holly also happened to be a former MC herself and went by the moniker Holly-Wood, introducing the burgeoning rhymer to the art of lyricism at a very early age.
Once Megan’s career noticeably began to take off, that is when her mother Holly stepped in to become her manager.
“She quit her job, like her regular job, and now she’s my full-time manager,” she said in an interview HipHopDX last year, adding “Oh yes. She’s, she’s happy.”
On top of having to go through the loss of her mother, Megan’s great-grandmother “Bigmamma” passed away earlier this month on March 7.
“I just lost Bigmamma yesterday but she lived such a full beautiful life and taught so many lessons and touched so many people that we are going to celebrate her home going instead of dwelling in the pain of loosing her ? thank you to all of these women for making me who I am today,” Meg wrote under a picture of herself as a child while surrounded by her mom, grandma, and great-grandmother.”
HipHopDX sends our heartfelt condolences to Megan Thee Stallion and her family.

Her music is poop. But my heart goes out to her for her loss(es). Helluva month for her.
RIP to her mom.. But. …Why did her moms and grandmoms let her name herself after a male horse?
You know a stallion is a male horse right?
Meanwhile IDF massacred a bunch of kids in G-aza, Yemen was bombed, US murdered a bunch of civilians in Syria etc.. none of that matters, we don’t hear about that in the ( ( ( mainstream media ) ) ).
On one hand, I feel you. It’s definitely important for us to remain in tune with current world events. On the other hand, this isn’t the site for that. You wouldn’t go to MSNBC.com and complain about their lack of coverage of the newest Logic album, would you? Ok, then. Anyway, my condolences to Megan. Hopefully she’s able to turn emerge from her terrible month with some artistry that has some depth.
Go fcuk yourself with that antisemitic bullshit
