At this stage of his career, Meek Mill has been putting his best foot forward and in being an active member of his community. He’s been putting in work with JAY-Z and Philadelphia 76ers co-owner Michael Rubin to push for prison reform over the years, and he always makes sure to advise the youth in his city.
The Philly native tried to be the big brother when he offered to sign the local up-and-coming rappers to stop all the beefing in the city. Not everyone felt Meek’s act of kindness as local rapper PoundSide Pop banned him from stepping foot in his part of town. But it doesn’t seem like Meek is going to stand down.
On Thursday (December 24), the Championships rapper took to Instagram to let his fans and opps know he is going to continue shooting music videos in his hometown regardless of the ban. In the clip, Meek is rapping alongside his friends with lyrics directed at those who weren’t feeling his good deed.
“I’m shooting the rest of my videos in Philly …….#extremebigdawgshit,” Meek wrote defiantly in the caption.
According to Meek Mill, no one has the power to ban him, especially when he’s done so much for the city like he made clear in a tweet in November. With this new proclamation on Instagram, there’s no telling how the local rappers are going to take it. Hopefully, nothing gets out of hand given how much gun violence has already torn through the Hip Hop community.
Even though people in his city are trying him, Meek isn’t letting it disrupt him from getting his bag. It was recently announced that Jay-Z’s Roc Nation will be teaming up with Random House to launch a literary publishing partnership called Roc Lit 101.
Meek is listed as one of the rappers alongside Lil Uzi Vert, Fat Joe and Yo Gotti that will be dropping books through the partnership. Meek’s books will be about his tales of survival and the criminal justice system.
Meek Mill please don’t be an idiot. Sometimes you have to get away from your old stomping grounds. I wish Nipsey would have taken the same advice.
This lame ass teenage yelling squeaky girl voice get popped, no one would have a bad day.
