Maybach Music Group Announces Young Sav As Label Vice President

Today Maybach Music Group has announced their latest addition to the executive staff of Rick Ross’ high-profile label. Kendell “Young Sav” Freeman has been appointed Vice President, after years as Mix-show Director at Def Jam Records. Sav was instrumental in the Best Of Both Offices branding, and worked closely with acts such as 2 Chainz, Jadakiss and Juelz Santana. Prior to his work at Def Jam, Sav worked at TVT Records, with a roster then including Pitbull, Lil Jon & The Eastside Boyz and Ying Yang Twins.

According to a press release, he is expected to remain in New York.

In a press statement, Sav reacted to the move, “I am extremely excited to embark on this new path in my career. I appreciate [Rick] Ross for noticing my grind, work ethic and giving me a major opportunity to not only be apart of this label, but also help execute his vision. It’s going to be a privilege to work with the brand and assist in taking it to the next tier. All of the artists on the roster are amazing. I’m ready to get to work.”

Ross added, in his own words, “[It] feels great calling one of the hardest workers and few people I consider a close friend the new VP of MMG.”

While Rick Ross currently remains a Def Jam Records artist, Maybach Music Group has a distribution deal through Atlantic Records, in the latest Warner Music Group move. MMG’s roster currently includes Meek Mill, Wale, Gunplay and Omarion, among others.

    1. you’re right, you have a bankroll in your pocket and not have a platinum album. niggas just hate for anything

      1. how’s that? they’re making money. maybe more, maybe less. the point is everybody is touring and putting out albums. when they stop making music and start getting on the net to hate on other rappers because they might not agree with other people music, then u can say they fell off

      2. barely went gold with all that promo and features after mtv named him the hottest rapper in the game only to be outsold by kendrick who wasnt even mentioned on the list

      3. “MMG is not going anywhere”

They said the same thing about No Limit, Death Row, Rocafella, etc. and those labels are no longer popular. Nobody stays on top forever.

      1. g-unit broke up they didn’t take any L’s meek cant touch banks career yayo only album did more units than any of ross albums buck plat game plat mmg is not even a baby g-unit they a quarter of the unit haha grodt moved more units than mmg entire roster

    2. They should make ja rule vice president! he knows how to get ya label to the top! the only rapper that reached 50x platinum

    3. “They’re losing popularity and the music is selling less and less”

Ross just went gold. Meek is doing ok for a first album with limited promo. Wale has a strong fanbase. Stop the hate cause all it’s doing is chipping away at your soul.

      1. limited promo yeah right dreams and nightmares ads were everywhere. he said he was gonna go plat first week and he hasnt sold 400k yet

      2. He might have been high when he said that he would go plat. in one week but aren’t we all high when something exciting happens? Meek Mill is doing terrific out there. He now has his own label.

      3. his own label that hasnt done shit

traditionally people who start their own labels are platinum selling artists, not artists under gold selling artists who havent even sold a gold record themselves. i feel sorry for anyone signed to meek mill

    4. -a mixtape that “shut down the internet” and STILL is on this site’s collage of mixtapes

      -Cassidy controversy
      -Philly reverend controversy
      -probation controversy
      -numerous features to name

says he had a WHOLE LOT OF PROMOTION

and I LIKE “Perfectionist” but STOP LYING

      1. this site stopped posting mixtapes MONTHS ago, thats the only reason its still on this sites “collage of mixtapes” and MMG paid datpiff for those numbers, nigga aint shutdown the internet, how you get 3 million downloads but barely sell 350k records?

      2. -gunplay gets beat down and his chain snatched
-gunplay gets caught on camera robbing his own accountant for a chain and cellphone like a dope fiend
-wale gets sonned by a sport announcer for being unknown in his own city and not being on drake level

-stalley completly jacks a 5 year old song from the beat to the intro to the hook for his new albums first single
-ross gets let off without even a fine with an unlicensed loaded gun because of his law enforcement connections
-dropped from REEBOK for promoting raping women

      3. HHDX hasnt posted a mixtape since May 2012, around the time meek drop scream chasers 2, the fact that he is still on there means nothing

      4. Doesn’t matter, someone comes here and sees Meek’s tape in the top 3 on the home page. Accidental product placement (promotion).

And my comment is a response to “Meek is doing ok for a first album with limited promo”.

      5. its not Top 3 though. it just happens to be the second last mixtape before they stopped posting them

    5. “limited promo yeah right dreams and nightmares ads were everywhere”

Not everybody reads The Source or XXL.

    6. “Nas has sold over 400k many times”

Were talking about the present. And since when has Nas been humble?

      1. he let his music speak for itself, thats why nas is a legend with one of the most respect hiphop albums of all time. legends dont need to be humble once they been in the game over 20 years and are respected by all of the greats

    7. The only normal choice and sane one I must say is to name Ja rule as the president, come on son…. Ja Rule went 22 times platinum just last year. Once he gets outta jail he’ll smash on the industry again

    8. once illuminati finally make that one government for the whole world, they should name ja rule as the president

    9. The only normal choice and sane one I must say is to name Ja rule as the president, come on son…. Ja Rule went 22 times platinum just last year. Once he gets outta jail he’ll smash on the industry again…
