Chicago’s
own Lupe Fiasco is set to his the soccer field for a
special performance. Lupe was invited to appear at the
nationally televised MLS All-Star Game Halftime Show. The show will be
Saturday August 5 at 6:30pm EST and will be shown on ESPN.
Lupe will hit the stage to perform his
skateboard-inspired hit Kick, Push, which has garnered a lot of
critical praise and buzz for his debut Lupe Fiasco’s Food & Liquor.
Being that he is from Chicago,
it’s fitting to have Lupe perform in Illinois’
new Toyota Park. That didn’t go unnoticed by Soccer United
Marketing Enterprises President Doug Quinn.
“We are excited to have
Lupe Fiasco performing at our annual mid-season classic…With Lupe being a
native, it is a perfect fit for him to perform at the new soccer-specific
stadium,
as it hosts its first MLS All-Star game.”
The game will feature the 2006 MLS All-Stars
against English Premier League Champions Chelsea
FC. The MLS roster is packed with stars ranging from Bolivian Forward Jaime
Moreno to the young US’ phenom Freddy Adu.
