Ludacris has looked back fondly on the time he challenged Snoop Dogg in a weed smoking contest, noting that “it was a hero moment.”

The Atlanta icon took to X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday (October 8) to reflect on the weed-heavy event and the 21st anniversary of his celebrated album Chicken-N-Beer.

He said: “Man, happy anniversary, first and foremost, to the Chicken-N-Beer album. I just wanna say thank you to all the fans for reminding me today. One of my favorite songs on that album has gotta be ‘Hoes in My Room.’ Now listen, this is my first time working with Snoop Dogg, always wanted to work with him. One of my heroes.

“I remember being out in LA and he told me to come by the studio and I had Poon Daddy with me. This the guy that I was on the radio with. Still friends to this day. Anybody that knows Poon knows he can out-smoke anybody.”

He continued: So now we going to Snoop’s studio, right. This is damn near the south versus the west. I’m not backing down, I know Poon’s not backing down. We get there, they start lighting up blunts. I’m talking like six, seven blunts in rotation all at one time. My man Bishop Don Magic Juan was there.

“Anyone knows Don Juan knows that he puts the blunt up to his nose and inhales and then tries to pass it to somebody else. I wasn’t hitting the booger blunt. I let it skip me, but I was hitting every other blunt that came around. So was Poon. Of course Snoop was as he’s writing his verse.”

Luda concluded: “I say an hour went past, everybody still smoking. Two hours go past, he’s almost done. For the first time in my life I look at Poon and I see him get passed a blunt and he goes ‘Poon tapped out.’

“I thought I’d never see it in my entire life. So now it’s just me and Snoop. I out-smoked Poon Daddy for the first time. I will not say I out-smoked Snoop, but it was one of the hero moments with me to be in the studio with Snoop Dogg. I love you with all my heart.”

Everyone knows Snoop Dogg and marijuana go hand-in-hand. Back in 2022, when he stopped by The Martha Stewart Podcast, Stewart asked Snoop: “The question they’re going to ask is whether or not Snoop is smoking. Can you tell me how many of those special cigarettes you smoke a day do you think?”

Snoop replied: “It depends. When I’m shooting television, maybe about 15 a day. But when I’m making music, probably about 25 and the thing is when I’m with Martha, she’s the secondhand queen. I make sure she gets all the secondhand smoke.”

Stewart, always the consummate professional, responded: “That is the only time I get that fabulous secondhand smoke. And I must tell you, it makes me feel really good. And it does not disturb my concentration. In fact, I think it makes it even better and it doesn’t make me tired or any of the things that people say marijuana does to you. It’s fantastic. I think it’s great.”

In a 2012 Reddit conversation, he copped to smoking a mind-blowing 81 blunts per day.

He was also asked how long he’s gone without smoking and he said: “The longest I’ve ever been off is 164 days and muthafuckas say that’s a great answer. But the better question is, when was it when I first started smoking and how long was my life before I took my first pull? That’s the question I pose to you, Reddit.”
