Lonely Island to Release Sophomore LP in 2011

Comedy rap trio and Saturday Night Live team the Lonely Island surprised listeners last year with their humorous but ironically genuine parody album Increibad. Now, the trio – which is comprised of SNL star Andy Samberg and writers/directors Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone – has announced their plans to release their sophomore LP in 2011.

Although Lonely Island’s previous effort found the group collaborating with hit-makers like Justin Timberlake and T-Pain, the group also looked to some of underground Hip Hop’s elite for support. They enlisted the help of a number of prolific independent producers, including J-Zone (R.A. the Rugged Man’s “Brawl,” Cage’s “Stoney Lodge”), Jurassic 5’s DJ Nu-Mark and Wyshmaster (Tech N9ne’s “Sickology 101,” Nelly’s “U Ain’t Him”).

While there are few details available about the album, the trio released a YouTube video that features a short snippet of a song which may appear on the album (see below). DX will keep you updated as more information is revealed.

    1. while I’m sure anyone can argue this should not be on a hip hop site, that Dick IN a Box video was funny as fuck.

      1. I can definitely see your point, but these guys actually have better songs than most of the shit that passes for hip-hop on the radio.

    2. yea for being a parody album, every song was actually good from an artistic standpoint. and fuckin hilarious.

    3. They need to do I’m On A Boat Part II, and put Kanye on it, cause Ye’s raps be funny as hell sometimes. Matter fact, they should make it I’m On A Plane, and instead of talking about f*cking a mermaid, Ye can talk abt how he f*cked a bird.
