Lily Allen has expressed interest in pivoting to country and western music, despite previously criticizing Beyoncé for doing the same.
During an interview with the Dish podcast, the British singer talked about the possibility of approaching her music from a different angle as she has been working on new material in Nashville, which is widely considered the country capital of the world.

“There’s so much legacy [in Nashville],” she said. “I have to say it’s quite intimidating being here. People are really talented.”
About pivoting from her trademark style, she added: “I’m just making some space for some music to reveal itself,” she told hosts Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett. “It’s not an album … it’s just, yeah. I’m just, you know, trying some stuff out [to] see if it works. I do love country and western music. And also I feel like with my writing, it’s quite storytelling, sort of like narrative-led music.

“Because I don’t feel things, so it’s never about emotions. So … yeah, and country and western music lends itself quite well.”

Earlier this month, Allen criticized Bey’s latest record on her Miss Me? podcast soon after the release of Cowboy Carter. More specifically, she wasn’t a fan of the R&B superstar covering Dolly Parton’s “Jolene.”
“It’s very weird that you’d cover the most successful songs in that genre,” she said. “I just feel like it’s quite an interesting thing to do when you’re like trying to tackle a new genre, and you just choose the biggest song in that genre to cover. I mean, you do you, Beyoncé – and she literally is doing her, but why is she doing Dolly?”
Azealia Banks quickly called out the 38-year-old for the slander, claiming that the latter doesn’t get to speak on the matter due to her allegedly racist past.
Taking to her Instagram Stories, the 32-year-old rapper and singer reposted a social-media post about the London native criticizing Cowboy Carter (something Banks herself did), telling the latter to “sit this one out.”

“Shall we discuss that phone call to me – a few years ago – obviously off your face – crying and sobbing asking me to forgive you for randomly being racist?” she wrote, referring to the feud that the pair’s tension from eleven years before.
She continued: “And I quote, well, I just figured since I’m a white girl and you’re just some Black girl that I could shit on you…”

Banks then proceeded to give what she called a blow-by-blow description of the conversation between the two entailed.
