Lil Yachty has agreed to settle a lawsuit against a NFT seller who allegedly used his name and likeness in order to make millions of dollars.

According to Rolling Stone, the lawsuit — which was originally filed against the NFT platform Opulous in January 2023 for “trademark infringement” — was settled Tuesday (April 11).

Despite not disclosing the exact terms of the settlement, the parties were given 45 days to “confirm the settlement in writing and file a dismissal of the action.”

Court documents obtained by RS read: “Of course, it is axiomatic that in order to offer the ownership interest to any musician’s copyrighted work, defendant, Opulous, must first have the agreement and consent of the musician at issue to sell the copyright to his or her work, with the musician in turn entitled to a share of the proceeds from the sale thereof.”

According to the Georgia native’s lawsuit filed earlier this year, Opulous is accused of using his brand and name without permission to advertise their “Lil Yachty NFT Collection.”

The rapper learned that Opulous had apparently raised around $6.5million after releasing “exclusive launch content,” however, despite Opulous’ success, Yachty didn’t earn a cent from the profits. It’s been reported that Yachty only had conference calls with Opulous’ founder Lee James Parsons.

Even so, these calls allegedly did not mention a deal or an agreement. Even so, the NFT company apparently used the rapper’s photos for marketing purposes.

In other Lil Yatchy news, the rapper recently made his long-awaited musical debut on Saturday Night Live and performed a pair of songs from his latest album on the late-night sketch show.

Earlier this month, the 25-year-old rapper — alongside singer-songwriter Diana Gordon — performed the tracks “drive ME crazy!” and “the BLACK seminole” — two songs off his fifth studio album, Let’s Start Here — during his visit to NBC’s famous 30 Rockefeller Plaza studio in New York.

In his performance for “the BLACK seminole,” Yachty dressed in a modest outfit while belting out the classic rock influenced tune into a pitch-correction microphone.

“What’s wrong? What’s wrong, Mr. Man/ Your eyes are low/ And you’re walking with both hands on your head/ His response, he’s on a clean, clean high/ Both feet up on the ground/ But his head’s way, way, way in the sky,” Lil Yachty sang.

For his performance for “drive ME crazy!,” Lil Yachty returned to the stage alongside Gordon in an oversized Eskimo hat, a semi-loose long sleeve shirt and shorts. Gordon opened the performance with a yodel-like vocal arrangement over the upbeat melody.

Yachty then stepped up to the musical plate and sang his verse in a style reminiscent of the late Prince Be of P.M. Dawn.
