Lil Wayne Says “I’m In A Bad Situation But I Will Be Out Of It Soon”

Just days after Tweeting that his album has been delayed because of Baby and Cash Money Records, Lil Wayne seemed to again address his status at the label at VICE’s 20th Birthday celebration in Brooklyn on Friday (December 5).

The day before, Lil Wayne Tweeted, “I want off this label and nothing to do with these people but unfortunately it ain’t that easy.”

Apparently touching on the same subject on Friday during his performance, Wayne said, “Due to technical difficulties, I’m fucked up in a bad situation, but I will be out of it soon. And I do it for y’all.”

Whether or not the statement is an indication that Wayne is set to leave the label or ready to work out his issues internally is unclear.

The latest news came on the same day that Cortez Bryant, Lil Wayne’s manager, claimed that everything between the rapper and the label was okay.

“We’re good,” Bryant said. “I’m smiling. What are you talking ‘bout? I wouldn’t be out in the club. We’re good. We’re super good. You see me.”

    1. Am I missing something? I thought Lil Wayne had complete creative control over his projects and ain’t he like the co-CEO of Cash Money/Young Money or whatever?

Either this is a publicity stunt to generate buzz for an album that has none, or Lil Wayne has been lying to the public for years.

      1. He made mack maine ceo when that bedrock shit bubbled.
He tried to leave after mannie left, but he resigned up under his own banner YMCM. Hopefully since he under zulu that will give him a better chance to hit the bricks. If wayne leave that label will crash for real

      2. mack maine and weezy have no say or power at those labels. birdman and slim run the show. wayne dont even own trukfit, he has 10% if hes lucky.

    2. wayne was tryna leave back in 04-05 and join def jam. they gassed hs head up by making him “president” of cash money and by giving him the young money imprint. maybe some behind the scene threats too? idk but bird man and them raised them from a pre teen. in these situations, it’s kinda hard to leave someone even if they been doing you wrong. at the end of the day $$$ gonna speak

    3. Wayne will leave YMCM, start a new label. find a lil ugly midget kid and turn him out and make him his bitch like Birdman did to him. The saga continues.

    4. Now WEZZY YOU KNOW YOU AINT GOING NO WHERE YO ASS WILL COME UP MISSING BEFORE BABY AND SLIM EVER LET YOU GO ITS TO MUCH RIDING ON YOU TO MANY PEOPLE EATING OFF YOU AND NOT JUST BABY AND SLIM BIGGER PEOPLE AND YOU KNOW HOW YOU RECORD YOU GOT ALOT OF MUSIC SO YOU REALLY DONT HAVE TO BE HERE IF YOU GET MY MEANING NO WHAT BABY IS GONNA DO IS GIVE YOU 10 20 MILLION AND YOU GO SIT DOWN SOME WHERE AND DO WHAT DADDY SAY

    5. DAMN How insightful of him to finally realize his in a bad situation`(YMCMB),but dont think any `good situations(other labels) will help him since he raps like a cow being gagged by mandingo. And im allowed to finally say it since i got out of the musicbuisness.

    7. Lil Wayne’s Contract With Cash Money:

      Section 1.1 – Dreams & Money
“Cash Money Records Where Dreams Come True” See Addendum 1A* (Addendum 1A: You Get To Live Your Dreams But We Keep Your Money). Whether your dreams actually come true at Cash Money Records, we utilize our patented financial model. Many individuals wonder why Cash Money Records has such a large roster of artists and how they are able to continually make payroll. This contractual section will clarify your monetary relationship with Cash Money.

Cash Money Records Inc. will collect 100% of any and all records sales, royalties, copyright licensing, sample clearances, mechanical licenses, and any mechanism that generates income from your artistic output. Cash Money Records will provide you with a signing bonus of $500,000. This bonus is to be invested in your artistic development and spent on album development. You will be expected to pay your signing bonus back within 12 months time with an additional Prime Rate/.042%+-32.3443*23.1% of the meld+LIBOR-.02%=signing bonus. The formula is extremely simple (for us to understand).

As an artist, you will be allowed to collect your touring revenue and merchandise sales while Cash Money collects everything else at 100%. You will be required to pay licensing of the Cash Money name back to Cash Money Records Inc for licensing the name on your merchandise. You will also be required to pay the label a licensing fee for every concert to perform your own material. Your fee will be based on the amount of money you make from your concert. An example equation is below:

      Concert Formula
Artist receives $10,000 for the show
X = Label licensing fee / X = Artist Total Money Received from Concert
      $10,000 – x = $0

Cash Money Records will then keep all concert money collected from the artist per show since x=the show money. Licensing for merchandise will be calculated the same way.

      Section 1.2 – Fashion & Style
“Bling, Bling” refers to the diamonds your CEO will be wearing from your record sales. You must purchase all jewelry from Cash Money and give it to the label 6 months after purchase.

Section 1.3 – How Do I Make Money?
This section discusses how you make money and re-invest in your career while at Cash Money Records. Since you will be required to repay your signing bonus, license your concerts, pay a merchandising fee, and give us all you revenue, you may be wondering how I get paid as an artist while on the label. That is easy!

While at CMR, you don’t get paid in money. CMR keeps all your money and you are paid back by experience of your dreams and experiences. Living your dreams is priceless and there is no way one individual can handle making money and living their dreams at the same time without inherent danger. We are doing you a favor by keeping your cash and paying you with dreams and experience.

Yes, you might be like Bow Wow and have less than $2,000 in your accounts and be broke but you too will get a crappy hosting job for BET that pays $600 a month. Your dreams are priceless and will be with you for the rest of your life. While Baby and Slim drive by you in their new lambos and splash you with water from the gutter while you are sleeping in your cardboard box, just remember that they may have the money but you lived the dream and no one can take that away from you!
