Lil Wayne is back with some NBA analysis, defending Rudy Gobert after some have claimed he’s being “cooked” by Nikola Jokić in the playoffs.

The rapper and avid basketball fan shared a video on social media shortly after Gobert’s Minnesota Timberwolves lost to Jokić’s Denver Nuggets in game five of the Western Conference semifinals.

During the game, three-time MPV Jokić registered 40 points, 13 assists and seven rebounds in a dominant display that powered the Nuggets to a 112-97 victory.

Reacting to the contest, Weezy said: “Shout out to the Nuggets, it was a great game. Let me say first of all, I don’t like Jokić. I don’t like his game.

“I’m from the old school. Some people say he’s got an old school game, but that’s an older school than I’m from because he just look like… the dad’s dad vibe out there.”

He then defended Gobert from criticism over his struggles against Jokić during game five.

“I just wanna shout out my man Rudy Gobert. Defensive Player of the Year, whether you like it or not,” he added. “Rudy Gobert gets so much flak, man, and it looks like all he do to me is try his fucking hardest. The man just had his first fucking child.

“We are all men that talk about this, that get on television and talk about this. With your first child, nothing else matters. Congratulate the man and give the man some respect for what he’s doing.”

Weezy seemed to be responding to Draymond Green, who participated in TNT’s coverage of the game and was particularly critical of Gobert.

“Jokić doesn’t feel Rudy Gobert. He embarrassed the hell out of Rudy Gobert,” the four-time NBA champion claimed.

He added: “The big Frenchman is sitting on that podium speaking his native language. We, we, we need to do this. You, you, you need to get a stop. It’s you, my man, that is getting cooked.”

The Timberwolves star was also heavily scrutinized on social media, with basketball author Shea Serrano declaring: “a 7-foot DPOY who won’t guard the other team’s 7-footer is no DPOY.”

Pro sports bettor Kody Malstrom added: “Jokic isn’t just abusing the DPOY, he is literally hunting him and still imposing his will against him. Generational talent.”

Last month, Lil Wayne was among the big names tapped to star in a commercial for the 2024 NBA Playoffs, which was narrated by Chris Rock.

The spot centered around the premise that NBA players are acting too “cool” and denying the playoffs are “a thing” — even though they obviously are.

In addition to Tunechi, other non-NBA celebrities featured in the ad included ESPN’s Malika Andrews, chef Guy Fieri and singer Anuel AA. Players included Anthony Edwards, Jalen Brunson, Jayson Tatum, Damian Lillard and more.

While Lil Wayne is an avid sports lover, he called out the Los Angeles Lakers over alleged poor treatment at a game back in February.
