Lil Wayne‘s daughter Reginae Carter has always been a huge supporter of her famous father, but there’s one verse in particular that really stands out to her.

On the carpet at the 2022 Soul Train Awards, HipHopDX‘s Jeremy Hecht linked up with the oldest of the Carter kids and asked her to spit her favorite Weezy bars.

While showing off her rap skills, Nae delivered some lyrics from Wayne’s 2008 Tha Carter III cut “La La” which is produced by David Banner – and it’s clear why she has such an affinity for it.

My daughter be the twinkle of my eye/ You hurt her, you kill me, I ain’t ’bout to die,” Nae rapped. “See y’all are at ground, and my daughter is my sky/ I swear, I look in her face and I just want to break out and fly/ Four tears in my face, and you ain’t never heard me cry/ I’m richer than all y’all, I got a bank full of pride!

Weezy has definitely been getting his flowers lately from family and peers alike. Earlier this month, the New Orleans legend surprised Missy Elliott by pulling up to her wax figure’s unveiling at Madame Tussauds in Las Vegas – and she returned the favor by showering him with love and crediting him with “birthing a whole generation” of rappers after him.

“@LilTunechi You have Birthed a whole generation after you & Its easy for people to acknowledge Some1’s GREATNESS when their no longer around but I want you to know YOU ARE LEGENDARY,” she wrote on Twitter. “No matter who thinks differently YOUR BLUEPRINT is PRESENT! No debate.”

She continued: “Sometimes it’s hard to run into a real one in this business but when you do DON’T LET THEM GO A huge hug will let them know you appreciate them & their contributions to the CULTURE! Thank You @LilTunechi.”

For his 40th birthday in September, Wayne received an outpouring of love from the likes of Kanye West, Drake, Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown, 2 Chainz, Cam’Ron, Snoop Dogg, NBA YoungBoy, DJ Khaled, Janet Jackson and more.

And as an extra special gift and a reminder that he’s not close to slowing down, Lil Wayne also received 22 new platinum certifications on the same day as his birthday from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The tracks include some of the biggest singles from his career, including “6 Foot 7 Foot,” and “Love Me” featuring Drake and Future, now at a whopping 7x platinum.
