Lil Wayne isn’t convinced about artificial intelligence’s ability to reproduce his talent on the mic, explaining that it’s hard to recreate “one of a kind.”
Weezy covered the latest issue of Billboard on Wednesday (August 2) in celebration of Hip Hop 50, and the interview saw him dish on an array of topics including the AI craze latching onto rap music.
Wayne doesn’t think AI will be able to catch up and match his unique skillset in the studio because of his originality.
“Someone asked me about that recently. And they were trying to tell me that AI could make a voice that sounds just like me. But it’s not me, because I’m amazing,” he said.
“I’m like, ‘Is this AI thing going to be amazing too?’ Because I am naturally, organically amazing. I’m one of a kind. So actually, I would love to see that thing try to duplicate this motherfucker.”
Elsewhere during the chat, the New Orleans rap deity said he doesn’t have a secret to his longevity but thinks his insane work ethic has something to do with it.
“I don’t have a secret,” he testified. “I just work. I just keep going. I never stop. It’s just the work ethic, plain and simple. No more, no less; I don’t do nothing but my music.
“And also, in my mind, every single time I say the word ‘work,’ I ask God to forgive me. Cuz I know this has never been a job. It’s just a dream come true. So that’s why I’ve never stopped.”
Wayne also reflected on his undeniable influence on the rap game when it comes to the next generation embracing parts of his look such as face tattoos.
“Sometimes people ask me how I feel about everybody looking like me, everybody getting tattoos, etc,” he said. “That’s like seeing your kid come out of the room and looking just like you; it feels amazing.”
On the music side, Lil Wayne additionally revealed he’s still hard at work on Tha Carter VI but didn’t put a release date out there.
Just feed the AI some leen and it’ll produce just as shitty lyrics as this clown.
you dont know rap
Nah this dude in his prime was the best rapper and influencer most people were biting his style his look hell he helped blacks skateboard get countless piercings ect he this outside his lyrical abilities n catchiness is why you can’t compare him. Jay z was more businessman than a rapper known for the later. Biggie had 1 album 2 tops, need more depth. Tupac based upon lifestyle wanting to copy him and being known more for entertainment than other shh & being relevant for more than a decade off music alone is the only comparable rapper. A I will be hard to reciprocate artist like him. It’s like reciprocating Patrick Mahomes style. Some shh you can’t do exactly like them.
“Biggie had 1 album 2 tops”. Biggie only released 2 albums and both are legendary. Only a fool would say otherwise
Jayz wasn’t more of a businessman than a rapper. He is now, like many older artists. Back then, and before that time, JayZ was top tier. JayZ annoys.me honestly, and I don’t care to listen to him anymore, but he destroys Weezy any day of the week as far as quality albums go. If we’re gonna talk southern rappers, I’d rather listen to old Ludacris than Wayne.
You on some real hating d**k riding bullsh*t .Especially the part about you rather listen to some old Luda really stupid stop playing shot your self and respect Wezzy
its not just him it cant recreate biggie either
