Lil Nas X has a message for those doubting him – noting that he’s one of God’s favorites and that his next era will be as successful as his prior ones.

The polarizing rapper took to Twitter/X with a message to his haters on Wednesday (January 5).

“I love this constant cycle the world has with me,” he began. “When I started making music yall told me I was just another twitter rapper. Then I made the biggest song of all time. Yall called me a one hit wonder. Then I dropped one the most streamed albums of the year with 3 top 5 hits. Now yall saying my new shit not finna do nothing. At some point yall gotta realize I am gods favorite.”

He ended the note with the date 1/12/24, which is likely the release date for the forthcoming new single that he’s been teasing on his social media channels.

Earlier this week, he posted a selfie video on TikTok with the caption, “me returning to god after the industry tried to make me satanic” as he runs through New York City with a smile.

Satanic imagery has been something Lil Nas X has played around with since his debut album in 2021, but since the fall, he’s been adamant about having found God as he heads into his “Christian era” – but not everyone is able to let it go.

On Wednesday (January 3), the “Old Town Road” rapper quote-tweeted a clip of Dave Chapelle’s latest stand-up special where he jokes about Nas being “the gayest n-gga that ever lived.”

“Yall gotta let call me by your name go,” the 24-year-old wrote, referencing his 2021 song that was filled with Satanic imagery. “Me and the devil broke up 3 years ago. yall acting like children of divorce.”

While announcing his Christian era in the fall, Lil Nas X said:

“Making christian music does not mean i can’t suck dick no more. the two are not mutually exclusive. i am allowed to get on my knees for multiple reasons,” he jabbed back at those who attempt to police his artistry.

“Y’all see everything i do as a gimmick. when in reality im just an artist expressing myself in different ways. whether im a cowboy, gay, satanic, or now christian y’all find a problem! y’all don’t police nobody else art like mine. y’all hate me because im fun cute and petite.”

The “INDUSTRY BABY” artist also previewed an upcoming guitar-driven track in a video that finds him rocking straight hair and singing in a slow drawl in the passenger seat of a truck.

“Father stretch my hands / The lonely road seems to last the longest / Help me with my plans / Everything seems to go to nowhere / Free me from worry / Free me from all this envy in me,” he croons.

The clip continues with Lil Nas X kneeling in the middle of the street wearing a jean skirt; then running into an intersection.
