Lil B has responded to Timothée Chalamet jokingly giving him credit for his acting success.
In an interview with Nardwuar, Chalamet spoke about the impact that the rapper’s music has had on him and, more importantly, a life-changing encounter he had with the Based God as a young actor.

“Lil B is a hugely formative artist in my life and career,” he said. “He dropped an album called I’m Gay and the rollout was very ambiguous about his sexuality and the meaning of the album, and I was just inspired from the sense that he was doing whatever the fuck he wants.”
He continued: “I met him at NYU. I had $50 from a commercial I did, I bribed a kid to give me his ticket. I was in there alone, you know, front row to the right. I raised my hand, I got called on by him [and] told him I was going to ask out a crush. He invited me on stage and he knighted me.

“And honestly, he said, ‘That boy’s hands been blessed.’ And from there, my acting career took off. Thank you, Based God. I was struggling before that, basically just done Royal Pains, and, you know, I was nominated for an Oscar by the time I was 22.”
The Hollywood star added: “Shout out Lil B. Nothing possible without Lil B. Pray to the Based God.”

Lil B responded to Chalamet’s high praise on X (formerly Twitter), simply writing: “LEGACY AND LOVE!”
The pair’s encounter was actually captured on camera, with a YouTube video from 2012 showing Lil B kissing a young Timothée Chalamet’s hand during a lecture he gave at NYU.

The actor has also recently been working with Tyler, The Creator on what is the rapper’s feature film debut.
The two will star alongside Gwyneth Paltrow in the Joshua Safdie-directed Marty Supreme, which is set to be released in December 2025.
While plot details remain under wraps, the movie is reportedly inspired by the story of pro ping pong player Marty Reisman, who was “known for his flamboyant style and exceptional skill.”
Produced and distributed by A24, the film will also star Odessa A’zion, magician Penn Jillette, Kevin O’Leary, Abel Ferrara and Fran Drescher.

Chalamet can currently be seen starring in the Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown, in which he portrays the legendary musician.
