Latto has been visiting Australia, and her recent photos from her trip have prompted her to crack some jokes at her own expense.
The “Seven” rapper took to her Instagram stories on Friday (January 5) to post a photo of herself with a kangaroo, then snarked that it was her “white side” that prompted her to snap a pic with the animal.

“My mama dem side jumped out [ghost emoji],” she wrote in the caption. Latto, formerly “Mulatto,” is biracial. Her mother, Misti Pitts, is white and her father, Shayne Stephens, is Black.

As might be expected, her joke wasn’t positively received by a lot of her fans. “I wish I was that koala. Then again, they got chlamydia,” wrote one fan on Instagram, with many others echoing the possibility of a marsupial carrying a sexually transmitted infection.
However, there were a few others who did support Latto and her travels. “Latto is as iconic and adorable as our native Kangaroos and Koalas,” wrote an Australian fan. “She is considered an honorary Australian! It’s always a delight to see her here and how much she loves our animals! She is always breathtakingly stunning beyond any words could ever describe!”

In other Latto news, she recently hit out at a fan who has suggested that she stop working with lesser-known artists.
The comment came after Latto teased a release with rising star Anycia, with which one fan appeared to take issue.
The fan commented on X, formerly Twitter: “Girl we love you but you need to stop doing collabs with these unknown artists enough is enough, as fans we want to see you win and this will get you nowhere and a latto feature is losing its value. no more babydrills, luh tylers and whoever this is next era please.”
Latto quoted the tweet and explained why she thinks its important to support new talent.

Anycia herself also commented on the backlash to the collaboration, saying: “Bruh oml…..the fact that mfs is THIS mad ab me doing a song with latto is C R A Z Y. lmaoooooooooo.”
