Killer Mike has said he is “confident” that he will be cleared of any wrongdoing following his arrest at the 2024 Grammy Awards.

In his most detailed comments yet about the incident, Mike spoke to TMZ about what he believed happened.

“As you can imagine, there was a lot going and there was some confusion around which door my team and I should enter. We experienced an over-zealous security guard but my team and I have the upmost confidence that I will ultimately be cleared of all wrongdoing,” he said.

The Run The Jewels rapper is currently facing a misdemeanor battery charge after he was arrested at the Los Angeles awards show on Sunday (February 4).

He was released from police custody hours later on his own recognizance and is scheduled to make a court appearance on February 29.

There are conflicting accounts on what led to the arrest.

According to a law enforcement official who spoke to Rolling Stone, a female security guard asked Killer Mike for his tickets and he allegedly refused. She claims he then pushed her to the ground, causing injuries to her hand and fingers.

TMZ report that a security guard was giving Mike a hard time and he decided to push past the official.

The incident happened shortly after Mike won three Grammys for Best Rap Album (for Michael), Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance (both for “Scientists & Engineers”).

The Atlanta rap legend briefly addressed the arrest during a radio interview the morning after the ceremony where he said: “We hit a speed bump, and then we head back to the party.”

A video of the alleged incident made its way online and while it did not show Mike pushing anybody, he did appear to be facing off against various security personnel.

A later video also showed the rapper getting arrested with a fan nearby shouting “free Mike!”

Meek Mill later criticized the police and the Grammys for arresting Killer Mike at the ceremony.

“I don’t fuck with the Grammies … I always to always have big Grammy parties and have the heaviest business and biggest entertainments with us at the night because we actually have real influence on the culture! Grammies is not the play!” he wrote on X.
