Kendrick Lamar’s “Swimming Pools (Drank)” Certified Platinum

Last year’s good kid, m.A.A.d. city by Kendrick Lamar has reached another milestone. First, the album went gold. Now, the album’s second single, “Swimming Pools (Drank)” is certified platinum.

The track was released in late July of 2012, a year that would see Lamar celebrated for his efforts. His work on good kid landed him several other achievements, including HipHopDX’s Album of the Year, our Readers’ Choice Album of the Year and Emcee of the Year.

“Swimming Pools” topped charts both in the States and overseas, where he is currently touring. The official remix for the track features Lamar’s Black Hippy family. The video for the track, seen below, matches the song’s anti-drinking theme.

      1. 100% Co-sign

Always good to see a real talented MC like Kendrick doing good numbers
Especially in this Hip Hop “ice age” that brings us so much crap, go Kendrick!

    3. Interscope is winning and failing at the same time … Jimmy and Dre lucked up with Kendrick, but Chief Keef is a nightmare.

      1. And that’s how companies and record labels work. That’s the reason why they can afford to fuck up 6 mill for Chief Keef.

    4. Finally a well deserved MC gets a platinum certification congrats Kendrick now we need to get your album to platinum sales.

    5. Kendrick Lamar and J Cole is the future

Kendrick Lamar Gold Album and Platinum Single
J.cole Gold Album, Platinum Single and a Gold Single

    6. Props to K Doc, the album was much better than his Control System album, I didn’t really get into that one. But it is pretty sad that swimming pools was the single to go platinum, cuz it’s about drinking and partying and that’s not really Kendick Lamar. He usually has mixed messages, he goes against drugs but than his movement is all about high power, so I’m not sure where he stands exactly. Other than that, I think Kendrick is the best from Cali right now, and probly J Cole is the best from New York. Modern day Pac & Biggie.

    7. This pinhead-looking nigga aint gonna be talked about in the new couple of years! His next album will suck so much balls that even lil wayne haters will start hating on the nigga

      LONG LIVE WEEZY!

      1. You’re a sad, delusional kid if you think that Kendrick won’t be talked about in a couple of years. Kendrick ain’t going anywhere. You’re even more sad and delusional of you think his next album will suck because Kendrick drops nothing but good quality music. Stop being a hater, BOY, stop sucking Wayne’s scrotum, and get a life.

      1. Hmm, i don’t agree. We have Cole, Big Krit, Asap,TDE and Yelawolf too so Kendrick isn’t the last/only hope we’ve got, he’s just the leader of it.
