Kendrick Lamar Says “I’m A Proud Monkey” On “The Blacker The Berry” Song

Kendrick Lamar’s “The Blacker The Berry” single was released today (February 9).

On the Boi-1da and Terrace Martin-produced track, the TDE rapper calls himself both “the biggest hypocrite in 2015” and “a proud monkey.”

Elsewhere, Kendrick Lamar raps, “”You hate my people, your plan is to terminate my culture” and that “you sabotaged my community, makin’ a killing / You made me a killer / Emancipation of a real nigga.”

The Compton, California rapper won the “Best Rap Performance” and “Best Rap Songs” Grammys yesterday (February 8) for his “i” single, which was released last year.

    1. My nigga Kendrick sold out to white america just for this moment to betray their trust and take a shit on it. I take back all K.dot slander I have said in the past I am not worthy (,-.-,)

      1. this song has 2 points

1- is for racist white ppl

2- is for ‘pro blacks’ who end up killing eachtoerh (hence why he calls himself a hyprocrite

    2. Some say the blacker the berry, the sweeter the juice
I say the darker the flesh then the deeper the roots
I give a holler to my sisters on welfare
Tupac cares, if don’t nobody else care

    3. Way to lead with that dumbass title instead of just saying “Kendrick drops a fucking DOPE track”

      Stop trollin for views HHDX

    4. so of all the lines in this song that’s what the whitefolks tha run this blog thought was the most relevant…. not surprised. Y’all still mad Nicki and J Cole out sold Iqqqqy

    5. Wow… This track gave me the chills. Dope. Raw, uncut unfiltered and unforgiving. The trolls gotta go back under The bridge find something else to hate on.

    6. Thank you, Kendrick. The fact that this dropped during Black history month and after he won a Grammy is the icing on the cake. Glad he didn’t show up to the Grammy’s last night as well. Salute! Can’t wait to cop the album!

    7. KING KENDRICK’s next album is gong to do huge numbers and be yet another CLASIC!…..#LIFE AFTER good kid..mAAd city….

    8. AGREED. KENDRICK ALL ABOUT LYRICAL SUBSTANCE..BUT THAT ENDS THERE. NO CHARISMA NO MAINSTREAM APPEAL NO FLOW AND LETS NOT FORGET HE GOT NO IMAGE APPEAL TOO..THIS 5’FT TALL ASS NIGGA WILL NEVER BE AT THE SAME LEVEL AS A DRAKE OR A JAY-Z (ON ALL PLATFORMS THAT IS)

      1. So which one is it? Is he mainstream or is he not? The dude a couple of comments ahead of you states he is mainstream. I guess he does have some mainstream appeal because he did win two Grammys. Lets face it, the Grammys are on the fence when it comes to real authentic music in any genre. Don’t hate on him. He has appeal and charisma

    9. OVER RATED niggaz make songs like this everyday and this nigga makes it the internet just shuts down like OMGGG!!! FOH

    10. people listen to the song this is not a black power song far from it. its a make all the white kids who buy hiphop feel good song.he’s an industry puppet fullstop.
