Kanye West‘s lawsuit against a burger store in 2022 has been abandoned after Ye has reportedly become unreachable.
According to a report from WAtoday on Friday (February 10), Kanye had filed suit against Ivanhoe burger store-owner Mark Elkhouri for naming his restaurant College Dropout Burgers – accusing him of misleading and deceptive conduct and using his 2004 album name without permission. However, in court on Friday, Elkhouri’s lawyer told the judge that his team had not received a single reply from Ye in an application to secure legal costs before the case was to begin.

“The applicant has taken a single substantive step so far in this proceeding, which is to initiate it … and then nothing since then,” Elkhouri’s lawyer Craig Smith said. “None of the various requests … none of those have been answered with any substance.”
In a 43-page statement of claim filed in October last year, Ye’s legal team said that their client’s fame would make the restaurant’s name immediately associated with him, which causes loss and damage to his brand.

“Ye has suffered, and will continue to suffer, loss and damage,” the documents say. “Ye has sold more than 140 million records internationally and is one of the best-selling artists of all time.”
Ye’s lawyers were seeking a permanent injunction preventing the Australian-based company from representing that its fast food products and/or restaurant are sponsored, approved or affiliated with Ye.
They also called for Elkhouri to withdraw his Australian trademark application for College Dropout Burgers, destroy any material that references Kanye West or his branding as well as pay their legal fees.
The burger chain lawsuit abandonment is just the latest in a string of issues that people in working relationships with the embattled rapper have been facing.

Kanye’s former legal team just finally had success in dropping him as a client after trying to contact him for months, while his former business manager, Thomas St. John, has still been unable to reach him after recently suing him for breach of contract.
St. John claims that his and West’s professional relationship began in March 2022, when the rapper agreed to keep him on a monthly retainer of $300,000 as payment to be his business manager and the Chief Marketing Officer of all things related to the Donda brand.
