Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign‘s reported Vultures cover art origins have been discovered with ties to an 1800s painting.

The pair’s joint project cover surfaced early Monday (December 11) on Playboi Carti’s Instagram Story, and Donda Times discovered the desolate island horizon photo was inspired by a landscape painting crafted by Caspar David Friedrich circa 1835 – 1837.

The morbid painting appears to feature a bird perched on a shovel used to dig up dirt to cover a coffin at a gravesite.

“Visible in the background is Cape Arkona on the island of Rügen, although in a different landscape setting,” a nuanced fan added for context in the comment section. “It is possible that the owl, while undoubtedly a bird of death, here also represents a symbol of wisdom.”

The list of guests will allegedly feature Young Thug, Future, Playboi Carti, Quavo, Lil Durk, Chris Brown and more.
