This year may see Hip Hop’s most unlikely collaboration in Kanye West, Justin Bieber, and Raekwon, as the three artists discussed the possibility on Sunday (August 15).
The discussion began when Kanye (@KanyeWest) Tweeted that he was listening to Bieber’s song, “Runaway Love,” later adding that he had a song titled “Runaway” on his own album.
“It’s not a so what moment for me,” replied Bieber (@JustinBieber) “I’m 16 and a fan. I’m kinda hyped u are listening to my stuff. Thank u. Nice sunday morning,”
In response, West made an unexpected suggestion. “I’m honored that you like my Music @JustinBieber!!!” tweeted the rapper. “You gotta hear the album. Maybe we can do something together. Me, You and Raekwon.”
Kanye proceeded to explain that the Chef and Ghostface Killah were on one of his favorite Jodeci remixes, and suggested that he and the Wu emcee could add some flavor to “Runaway Love.”
“Me, u, and the chef 2gether on a song = EPIC. haha. might sound crazy 2 u but even having this convo is living the dream. thanks,” tweeted Bieber – a message which Raekwon, (@Raekwon) later re-tweeted.
In related news, Kanye West confirmed, once again via Twitter, that Mos Def would be featured on the remix to Ye’s song, “Power.”
In late 2002, Kanye West collaborated with Mos Def on the remix to Talib Kweli’s “Get By.”
Since then, the duo has worked together on both artists’ solo projects. West produced the song “Sunshine” on Mos’ 2004 album The New Danger, while Mos Def appeared on West’s 2007 project Graduation for the track “Drunk and Hot Girls.”
“Mos helped me find the ‘old me’ lyrically,” tweeted West of the remix.
