Kanye West Postpones Several “Yeezus Tour” Dates

Kanye West has canceled “Yeezus Tour” shows due to a vehicle accident which damaged stage equipment, according to tmz.com. 

Kanye West canceled his Vancouver concert scheduled for today (October 31). 

The cancelation was reportedly due to a car accident. The accident involved a truck that was carrying stage equipment, including a 60-foot circular LED screen used during West’s set. 

TMZ reports that West has said that the damaged equipment is “central to the creative vision” of the show and that “it’s impossible to put on the show.” Additional shows in Anaheim, Denver and Minneapolis are being postponed while replacement sets are being created, as per tmz.com. 

Def Jam released a statement about the cancelation, according to complex.com.

“Yesterday, on the road to Vancouver, a truck carrying ‘The Yeezus Tour’s’ custom-made video truss and 60-ft circular LED screen was in an accident that damaged the gear beyond repair,” the label said in a statement. “This gear is central to the staging of ‘The Yeezus Tour,’ and central to the creative vision put forth by Kanye West and his design team at DONDA.As a result of this event, it is impossible to put on the show and ‘The Yeezus Tour’ will be postponed until these essential pieces can be reengineered and refabricated. Kanye West will not compromise on bringing the show, as it was originally envisioned and designed, to his fans. The Vancouver, Denver and Minneapolis dates have been postponed. Further details on the affected tour dates will be announced shortly.” 

Kanye’s “Yeezus Tour” made headlines when it was reported that West performed “Jesus Walks” alongside a man dressed as Jesus. He later spoke about this with San Francisco’s Wild 94.9.

“One of the things that I wanted to really get across with that message is that you can have a relationship with Jesus, that you can talk to Jesus,” Kanye West said. “In the same way how someone will have ‘Jesus is My Homeboy’ [on a T-shirt], that is the way I would express it and the way I create, is that you can have a relationship with Jesus, that you can talk to him.”
