Los Angeles, CA

Kanye West’s lawyers have announced they’ve cut ties with the turbulent superstar through newspaper ads after not being able to contact him.

According to AllHipHop, the law firm Greenberg Traurig has reportedly taken out a pair of ads in Los Angeles-based newspapers to publicly renounce their association with Kanye.

The move is described as a “multi-pronged approach” designed to “apprise him of the Withdrawal Order” which would finalize him being dropped as a client.

“Publication of the Withdrawal Order’s contents in two Los Angeles-area newspapers, where Ye appears to reside, will also apprise him of the Withdrawal Order,” the legal filing reads.

“Given Ye’s public status, publication of the Withdrawal Order will likely garner significant media attention, resulting in broader publication and provide an even greater likelihood of apprising Ye of the Order.”

Greenberg Traurig had been repping West in his copyright infringement case against Ultra International Music Publishing. Judge Analisa Torres granted the law firm’s motion to stop representing Kanye on November 30, 2022, but gave them two weeks to serve him the necessary court documents.

They’ve so far been unsuccessful in their attempts to contact Ye, which is why they’re now resorting to the newspaper ad route.

Greenberg Traurig aren’t the only ones having trouble tracking down Ye, who has been somewhat off the grid since the start of 2023. His former business manager, Thomas St. John, has also been unable to reach the polarizing rap star after recently suing him for breach of contract.

St. John claims that his and West’s professional relationship began in March 2022, when the rapper agreed to keep him on a monthly retainer of $300,000 as payment to be his business manager and the Chief Marketing Officer of all things related to the Donda brand.

He explained that he and Kanye maintained a good business relationship until an “aggressive meeting” led to their falling out and West not returning his messages.

St. John is seeking $4.5 million in damages, which includes payments for the months of July, August and September, as well as retainers for the remaining term of the defaulted agreement, which was set to end in November 2023.

As for Ye, he and architectural designer Bianca Censori — who has worked at his Yeezy company for several years — recently got married in a private wedding ceremony, according to reports.

Despite having tied the knot in secret, it seems the couple hasn’t yet filed a marriage certificate to make it legal.
