Kanye West made an unlikely cameo in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, but it’s not the blockbuster credit that some fans may have expected.

Fans noticed what appears to be a Yeezy mural in the background of a scene starring Edward Norton in the Rian Johnson-directed film, with the artwork showing Kanye looking like a prophet wearing a white robe while holding a chalice and a torch.

“Uhm… On Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, is this Kanye West,” one eagle-eyed viewer tweeted before a Kanye West fan account picked up the clip days later after the murder mystery arrived on Netflix for Christmas weekend.

Many were thrown off by the Ye cameo considering several brands and organizations have cut ties with the Chicago-bred mogul following his recent flurry of antisemitic remarks, but the sequel began filming in September 2021 long before his damaging comments.

The sequel to 2019’s Knives Out, Glass Onion received a limited-theater release in November before making its streaming debut on Netflix last week. The film finds Daniel Craig reprising his role as the private investigator Benoit Blanc, alongside a new cast comprised of Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Kate Hudson and more.

According to Variety, Netflix estimates that 35 million households tuned into Glass Onion over the holiday weekend.

Kanye West, meanwhile, has laid low this holiday season, keeping his name out of the spotlight and the headlines. However, his ex-wife Kim Kardashian recently appeared on Angie Martinez’s IRL podcast where she admitted co-parenting with Ye is “really fucking hard.”

“If they don’t know the things that are being said or what’s happening in the world, why would I ever bring that energy to them?” she said of her four kids and the drama surrounding their father. “That’s really heavy grown-up shit that they’re not ready to deal with. That they are not ready to deal with and when they are, we’ll have those conversations.

“I’ll be so prepared. But until then I’ll do anything to keep their life as normal as possible. One day my kids will thank me for sitting here and not bashing their dad when I could. All the crazy shit. They’ll thank me and I’ll privately answer anything that they want to know. It’s not my place anymore to jump in.”
