K Camp has revealed that he was recently diagnosed with a ruptured vocal cord, for which he will receive surgical treatment soon.

In a social media video shared on Monday (November 14), the Atlanta rapper opened up about his condition — a vocal chord polyp stemming from an inflammatory reaction. The “Money Baby” hitmaker finally decided to meet with a specialist when the pain didn’t subside after two months, and he is now on the path to recovery.

In the caption of his Instagram post, the 33-year-old wrote: “Dear fans, I wanted to share some important news. I’ll be undergoing vocal surgery in a few days. Good news is that it’s not cancerous. Your support means the world to me. Let’s pray that this doesn’t affect me or my music. Thank you for your understanding and love during this time.”

Earlier this year, however, K Camp took a slightly different tone while talking about his presence in the music space.

In January, the rapper and singer made an appearance on the Mr. Jay Hil Show, during which he spoke about the notion that he’s “fallen off” in recent years.

“I heard all that shit,” he said about those slandering his current work. “Don’t no artist wanna hear that they fell off. But you got to understand, what’s the definition of falling off. N-ggas use that term so loosely. What is falling off?

“Falling off to me is fucked up somewhere under a bridge with no paper, with a box saying: ‘Can I get some food?’ That’s falling off.”

He continued: “When n-ggas speak in the aspect of falling off in music, like they don’t hear you on the radio, they don’t see you visually, it’s not falling off. Every player got an off-season … You got to go back to practice, you got to go out and get back in the gym and get your skill set up and come back out.”
