Joe Budden has teased an interview with controversial political commentator Candace Owens, but Peter Rosenberg isn’t having any of it.

Budden and Owens were seen posing for a photo together on Tuesday (February 27), with the latter writing next to the image on her Instagram Stories: “It happened.”

After catching wind of the photo, Hot 97 DJ Rosenberg called out the former Slaughterhouse rapper for giving a platform to a “hateful hack.”

After initially responding to the image with a facepalm emoji, Rosenberg wrote: “So sick of the idea that conversations need to be had with bigots, trolls, and immoral a-holes. Exchanging ideas among smart good people is useful. Hearing a hateful hack babble on about hate is not worth anyone’s time.”

The radio veteran, who co-hosts the pioneering Hip Hop podcast Juan Epstein alongside Cipha Sounds, also complained in an Instagram comment: “I didn’t create this podcast for this bullshit.”

During a recent episode of his eponymous pocast, Joe Budden praised Candace Owens as one of his “favorite people,” but not because of her right-wing political opinions.

“I really do feel bad that one of my new favorite people is Candace Owens,” he said. “Not politically — gotta clear that up. But when she cuts that shit off and is just a girl, she is the funniest person on the planet, by far. She’s like political Azealia Banks.”

He also invited her onto his podcast, saying: “Candace Owens, if you’re watching — which you’re probably not — we got a seat for you up here. We got a seat for you. Any seat you want. Come up here and let’s just do the Lord’s work.”

Owens accepted his invitation during an episode of her own podcast, sharing a clip of Budden laughing at her calling Ariana Grande a “homewrecker.”

“Ooooh, Joe Budden, you better have meant it because I was watching. I’m watching,” she said. “I just watched again. Actually, I think I’ve watched it now about three times and I’m going to take you up on your offer publicly, so now you can’t do anything squirmish.

“You can’t be like, ‘Oh no, I’m not gonna have you.’ I will definitively join your podcast and we can talk.”

Owens went on say that she wanted to know what Black people have against her and what exactly Joe Budden doesn’t agree with politically.

“One of the thing’s we’re gonna talk about is why every time any person in Black media or any Black commenter on the internet agrees with me, they always have to do that thing in the beginning: ‘Oh, I just wanna be clear, I don’t agree with her politically.’ I don’t get it,” she said.

“It’s like a weird prayer that you have to say so that what, you’ll still be accepted by Black people and you’re still allowed to comment on Black issues as long as you say that you don’t agree with Candace Owens?”

She added: “I’d like to know what it is that you don’t agree with when it comes to my politics or why everyone feels compelled to say that. Which is why I’m so happy to humbly accept your offer. I don’t even know where you’re from. I will be there.”
