Now, Joe Budden has argued that YoungBoy’s career is faltering, and backed up his claim by reading out the first-week sales for a number of YB’s recent projects.
“I just wanna say, I’m way bigger than him. Stop this,” he said during an X Spaces on Monday (December 4). “Dawg, you young idiots get fooled by these label metrics and these digital tricks.

“Would you like me to read you the numbers on YoungBoy’s last six projects? Alright. I mean, I don’t want to. I didn’t think I had to do this. ‘Cause I’m sure someone here is recording.

Despite Joe Budden’s comments, NBA YoungBoy has earned over 60,000 first-week units several times in his career with projects like 2020’s Top (126,000), 2021’s Sincerely, Kentrell (137,000) and 2022’s The Last Slimeto (108,400).
Meanwhile, Budden’s first and only major label album, 2003’s Joe Budden, sold 95,000 copies in its first week and debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard 200, powered by the hit single “Pump It Up” — although this was years before streaming came into effect.

The pair’s back-and-forth began when Joe Budden called NBA YoungBoy “horrible” on his podcast over the weekend.
“That n-gga’s trash,” he said. “He’s horrible. He is horrible. He is really, really, really, really, really bad. I don’t know him as a person; I’m only speaking about music.

“That thing happened with him where when he was out, the label pushed the button and did some YouTube shit, so then all the little kids had to come to the gathering and tell you about NBA YoungBoy’s views and how great he is.”
He added: “Now that the label’s backed up a bit, and now that we’ve done had about three or four projects while he’s been in Utah on house arrest.”
Shortly after, NBA YoungBoy responded with a fiery rant in which he told Budden to “shut his fucking mouth.”
“The last thing I dropped was Decided 2 — my album’s still in the top 10, pussy ass n-gga!” he said. “Don’t speak on me, I don’t play that shit. Don’t rat on me neither, you pussy bitch!
