Jim Jones has come out and defended Drake suing his longtime record label, Universal Music Group, for defamation over Kendrick Lamar‘s diss song “Not Like Us.”

Appearing on the Broke N’ Frontin podcast, the “We Fly High” rapper offered his thoughts on Drizzy’s bombshell lawsuit, which has been widely criticized within the Hip Hop community.

Capo shielded the 6 God from the backlash by pointing out that he isn’t suing Kendrick directly and arguing that he has a right to seek a huge payday from a company that has a history of allegedly exploiting artists.

“He’s not snitching on nobody. He’s not in a court of law, he’s not personally suing Kendrick Lamar, which everybody seems to think that this lawsuit is about,” he said. “He’s suing UMG, which is the biggest company that has the biggest bag, n-gga.”

Jones did accept that if Drake was directly suing Kendrick then there should be “uproar,” but went on to compare the case to Tracy Morgan taking Walmart to court after being hit by one of the grocery chain’s trucks.

“When Tracy Morgan caught that bag, we were happy for him. So how the fuck we not gonna be happy about somebody getting a bag from one of the biggest companies that’s been raping everybody anyway?” he asked.

The Dipset rapper continued by saying: “This ain’t got nothing do with [a] rap battle. The song is out! Whatever the people’s perception of him winning or losing is, it’s done. He said, ‘That’s how y’all feel? Cool.’

“Y’all associating muthafucking brussell sprouts with apples. It’s two totally different things […] If it was any other thing, I would call a red flag. But this has got no reflection of the street or rap culture.”

He also compared Drake to a particular fictional action hero: “This is a dangerous thing he’s doing. This is some James Bond shit he’s doing.”

While Jim Jones is supportive of Drake’s lawsuit, others such as Joe Budden are not.

During a recent episode of his eponymous podcast, the former Slaughterhouse rapper ripped Drizzy over the legal action and claimed that he is ruining Hip Hop.

“You know how you running around with and you know what you doing and you know what you threatenin,” he said, referring to Drake’s “Mob Ties” persona and association with accused killer Top5, who has threatened to shoot Kendrick Lamar.

“So if you that, then be that. But don’t be that and also Karen out […] I don’t like it. It’s nasty and disgusting.”

Budden added: “This shit is a fucking mess. It’s disgusting. And if you love this shit, it hurts! I’m saddened as a diss track king, as a n-gga who loves to get on the mic and tell lies about my opponent.

“Horrible things get said [in rap beefs], man. I just don’t like the Karen play-both-sides, the aggressor and the victim.”
