Former music manager William Underwood is suing Jay-Z, LL Cool J and a group of music publishers for copyright infringement. Underwood is actually in a Pennsylvania prison right now and it is his daughter, Ebony, that is handling the lawsuits.
Unfortunately for them, LL Cool J is no longer part of the suit. Judge Harold Baer has dismissed the suit and against Cool James because the summons were not served correctly. Last June Ebony delivered the summons to the Def Jam offices in New York, thinking that it was LL’s business address. It is not.
Underwood claims that LL and Jay-Z took the songs, “Nobody Can Be You” and “Weak At The Knees,” which he owns the publishing of, and “commercialized” them into “Nobody Can Freak You” and “Money Ain’t A Thang.”
