Ja Rule recently appeared in an interview with Angie Martinez on New York’s Hot 97, and spoke about his career.
On having been away for so long:
“I think it’s a beautiful thing because it gives people time to miss your body of work, to miss what you’ve done.”
On fans turning on him:
“It was weird, it was like the public was fooled, like they were duped…’Don’t like this dude, cuz he’s doin this or doin’ that’…and then the material comes out being damn near the same. The same substance, the same type of female collabos. Then people were like…’something’s not adding up right.’…It’s a tough thing to grasp because you don’t understand it at the moment. I know people don’t like me because this guy [50 Cent] says to not like me. Are you serious?…At first it’s like a joke. And then, you go outside and people are screaming ‘yo, G-Unit!’ So, it has tricled down as a more serious thing.”
Ja also revealed that he’s got a movie in the works that he describe as his “side of the story,” presumably having to do with the G-Unit/Shady/Murder Inc. beef. Specifically, he said it would include the past 3 or 5 years of his life.
