    1. don’t get me wrong J. Cole is dope but can someone please tell me how in the hell someone signed to Jay-Z’s label and getting played on mainstream TV and Radio gets nominated for an UNDERGROUND award????

      1. Maybe because he’s more of a lyricist than an entertainer? I don’t know but that’s how I see it.

    3. SANTA wins “Best Female RApper” @ the 2010 Underground Music Awards.

      For more information on SANTA

      Google: SANTA female rapper

And see why industry critics are calling her the Hip-Hop Beyonce!!!

    4. I was very disappointed attending the UMA’s! This was my first time attending the award ceremony, as I thought I would go due to all the hype and promotion. It was way overcrowded, so overcapacity I almost thought the fire marshal would come and shut it down! Most of the buzz worthy nominees like J. Cole, Nipsey Hussle, and Trae tha Truth didn’t even show! The live performances from the underground artists and winners were horrible! Honestly the best performances were Ice T’s and Naughty By Nature’s! Naughty By Nature had everyone on their feet performing classic jams like “Uptown Anthem” and “Hip-Hop Hooray”. They looked really good like they haven’t aged at all! The awards given out were a little suspect! I mean, some of the winners actually deserved the awards like Fred the Godson, Mysonne and Wordspit just to name a few! But for categories like ‘UMA Female Artist of the Year’… Tiye Phoenix, who by the way didn’t even show, that award should have went to Eternia! Eternia has more accolades in terms of “underground” than Tiye Phoenix, and a better performer. Quintescence was nominated for two (2) awards. Quintescence won the award for ‘Song of the Year’, which was well deserved… but how could they award her ‘UMA Song of the Year’, and then turn around and not award her for ‘Best Female Rapper’? They must have not wanted her to go home with two (2) awards! If that was the case, clearly the award should have gone to La Femme Nikita, or Shelly B. Google search these ladies please and then tell me how a female rapper by the name of Santa went home with the UMA? I have never heard of this female rapper until the month of July, when I received various emails in my in-box informing subscribers of the nominees. Trust me, I’m underground and love underground artists! That was really a surprise blow, I thought the tug of war would have been between La Femme Nikita and Quintescence; both ladies go hard and have accolades to solidify themselves as true underground/ independent artists! Hey, the proof is pudding! There were more categories messed, just too many to name! If the excuse for these unworthy artist winning awards is going to be public voting, then maybe the organizers of the event should consider having a “People’s Choice Award” category, which would be more appropriate, thus making the award show prestigious and legitimate! With a legitimate award show next time the nominees will show up! Respect to the artist who did show… Mysonne, FredtheGodson, Tone Trump, B.I. Bang, Eternia, Shelly B., La Femme Nikita! That’s what makes a good award show when all the celebrities show and perform! They most definitely should have had the nominees perform! If nominees did perform, they probably had no business nominated, because I did not recognize any of them except Trillogy! Hopefully next year they will have their sh*t together!

      1. Im sorry, I wasn’t at the award show but the awards are determined by the public and I am one of the many people that voted for Santa for Best female Rappers, the other chicks were wack. Just cause you just heard of Santa doesnt mean that she is’nt desreving of the award, last I check she’s the only nominee with an album out, videos and she actually charted on #4 on the urban music charts and top 10 independent artist. I’ve been a santa fan for years and I love her I first saw her perform at Jacob Javits Center for ktu’s GLBT expo, and honey she may be straight but santa loves the gays and the gays love her!!!!

Stop the hate sweet heart instead of finding out about santa through your emails why dont you actually listen to her stuff, then you’ll see why she won, the proof is in the pudding, hun

Sorry santa baby, i cant have these jerks talking reckless about my girl, who else is going to save us from Nicki Minaj, la femme nikkita lmao

All other haters need to google my girl I love her, she is the hip-hop beyonce indeed ttyl
