J. Cole Speaks on Debut’s Release Date & Guest Producers

Supporters pleased with J. Cole’s recent release, Friday Night Lights , will be glad to hear the young Roc Nation emcee is announcing more details about his anticipated debut.

“The album could be done. If I needed to put it out next week, I would be able to,” he told Rap-Up.com. “My expectations were already super high and I think the fans’ were too, but now that the mixtape is out and the response is what it is, I kinda want to go back in and do a few more songs that are that much better, just to boost the level of the album.”

The emcee also noted that the album might be released in or around March and that he’s hoping to drop a single within the next few weeks. The single, he added, will feature a guest and Cole noted, “It’s what a lot of people been waiting on.”

Currently, his as of yet untitled disc will feature production from Brian Kidd, No I.D. and Danjahandz but the bulk of the beats will come from Cole himself

    2. realy march if this dude was with YM/CMR you fuck boys would be crying allday about dropping his album that late but yall got JAY dick all in ya mouth

let me guess its his choice not to drop the album right now yeah fucking right

      1. what cole brings to the game is an emcee that doesn’t need drug tales to increase sales.. he’s a naive young talent that sounds raw, so raw sometimes he sounds like he doesn’t belong, that’s the cost of growing up in front of the crowd.. he’s not holding anything back.. this is the way wayne built his career, making tons of songs and honing his craft.. wayne is talented, lacks subject matter (cause he knows what sells).. carter III had some serious tracks that were a deep as a prostitute’s vagina.. back to cole.. he’s in middle school.. fighting for a peer group.. and fighting within his peer group.. finding himself.. if he ever connects the wires he’ll jump start the game in a way that nelly did with his first album.. no ganster grill talk, just good music.. lyrics and sing-a-longs.. with amazing production.. his debut could be the biggest event of 2011.. if he connects the wires

      2. WHOSHOTCAM: ^^^ How is all of that NEW though. Granted it’s not POPULAR and for that I give him props. But it ain’t NEW (unless ur 12).

    3. No features from Elite??? I personally enjoyed the two of u guys collabs on “The Warm Up” But nonetheless if most production comes from Cole it’s bound to be dope. Gotta love his style and that FNL… Let’s just say i can’t get past da intro. Keep it up bruh

    4. COLE WORLD is it hes the truth hes just not going to rush out garbage just to sale like some other rappers do hes got crazy talent any one that likes hip hop should buy this thats just a feeling i have

    5. Aw snap! I know that collabo has got to be Jay-Z! I mean it only makes sense. J.Cole is gonna do it big with his major debut release. Fuck all the talk but when this shit drops then all the haters gonna have to swallow that shit they talkin…It’s worth the wait!

    6. how did i forget the he dont want to put out trash but when it was drake it was man cmr need to drop the album now

the album is done but we want get until march an yall all know that shit gone get push back to may or june

    7. Rappers always have interesting explanations on why they are being delayed. J. Cole is the BEST young lyracist out there. But he is on JAY-Z’s label…which means JAY ain’t putting him out until he is commercially viable. So in a nut shell, he needs better songs to get a release date. Nothing wrong with that.

    8. This nigga self-produced his own shit? I’ve gotta hear this, especially if he’s like Kanye West on the beats, or even Celph Titled!

      1. i love how everytime somebody says they not feeling j cole his fans always try to correct them. it’s an opinion people. get over it.

    9. Wow, Lupe Fiasco and J. Cole both droppin there albums in March. 2 of the 3 best albums comin out in ’11, March is gonna be SICK…..

      1. 100% cosign. The only reason people are bigging him up as the next Nas is because he stands out compared to the majority of these garbage new-wave rappers. Objectively, dude is not very original and pretty average. Jay Elec and Fashawn are the only newbies doin it proper.

    10. Glad to finally hear an expected release date. The only thing I could even remotely find wrong with pushing his album back again is,while I expect it to be good,if it just barely misses peoples expectations, then it will be a huge let down. The longer we wait, the higher the expectations. Im expecting it to be twice as good as FNL.
